Now the competition for HC talent has increased. Rice is reportedly interested in Stanford assistants and if that's true then UTEP is not competing with them. But if Rice wanted Keeler that could be a different story.

UTEP has more potential than Lice. Lice can barely draw flies to its games. They've had good seasons, but only a better starting salary will keep a coach from choosing them over UTEP.

We'd like to think so but Rice is smack in the middle of great FB recruits and Keeler might be more interested in that opening. Maybe not.

Lice? Really? A conference mate with an academic rating in the top ten of all universities in the nation? A team that owns you in football, even in their current dismal state? From a fan of the only winless FBS program in the nation? Pretty rich, huh?

And no, for multiple reasons, I seriously doubt UTEP is in competition with Rice University for the same head football coaching candidates. And if a mutual candidate should be Keeler, remember, metro Houston produces more FBS football players than any other metropolitan area in the nation. Where would YOU choose?

I thought it was pretty clever.

Yeah, Lice has all those advantages and no matter what, they will play in front of under 15,000 people in a cavernous, old stadium. Nobody in Houston gives 2 craps about Lice.

I feel bad for Charlotte. They are retaining Lambert for another season. His overall record of 17-41 (4-20) is worse than Kugler’s. He is getting paid $600,000 a season about 100k more than SK was. They also need to fire their AD, Judy.

I’m glad UTEP is making forward steps with the hiring of Senter. Let’s wait and see what he reels in for our next football HC.

Rice's academic standards make it very difficult to recruit there even though they are in the heart of Houston.

Rice was totally non competitive and the UTEP of the SWC. With all the great academics they still were not wanted and strong academics/research universities are a bid deal for major college affiliation. Why do you think the PAC 12 didn't bat an eye taking UTAH. They poured a ton in research and is a solid research university.

Listening to AD presser. He's sure is saying all the right things. He stated everyone will be treated with respect, no matter their economic/social status. Stull was slightly tone deaf in that department. HC search "will not sacrifice quality over speed" (in the name of early LOI).

Senter also said he wants a coach that can score points and is a great recruiter. At least he is spot on there.

Stanford and Northwestern are doing pretty well under similar restrictions. Rice should follow their lead and join a major conference.

True, its just that easy. Just ask to join and they let you in. Can't believe Rice hasn't asked the Big 12 or SEC to let them in. Got some real losers at that school.

Nobody wants Rice. They tried and tried but barely a whiff came by during last realignment.
