College Basketball News 2021- '22

12k is too big. If the national champions only need 7k there's no reason we need one almost double in size. The crowds are gone for good. Basketball and football.

Or do lockdowns and pointless preventative measures (that don’t actually prevent anything) for the remainder of our existence…. Also a great idea I guess

Are they dying? And if so how many compared to those that are unvaccinated? I don't think it's smart to downplay the importance of the vaccines. Hospitalizations are relative to the sheer numbers.
Yes they are dying.

one thing to think about, when talking about “unvaccinated “ patients, is to consider what criteria that hospital or health system uses to determine that status. For example, my health system doesn’t consider you vaccinated if: A) you aren’t past two weeks since your second shot (non J&J), and B) if you’re past 6mo since your last shot.

reason being is that your antibodies aren’t fully developed until 2 weeks, and those antibodies significantly wain in efficacy after 6mo. The Johnson vaccine is essentially worthless after about 2.

I can tell you they are doing analysis in my health system on death rates for this very reason. A lot of our patients come in soon after getting 1 or two doses of the vaccine.

there’s a LOT more to the data than what’s on a 3min segment of cable news.

what is completely true at this point, however, is that this virus is here for the long run. It will continue to mutate and spread. These vaccines aren’t permanent, and based on toxicity, I highly doubt the fda will ever approve 4-6mo boosters from here on out….so None of these measures are going to prevent what our clear reality is. At this point, it’s nothing but optics…

Scientists say omicron spreads more easily than other coronavirus strains, including delta, though many details about it remain unknown, including whether it causes more or less severe illness. But even if it is milder, the new variant could still overwhelm health systems because of the sheer number of infections. Sooooo...stop basing all of your decisions on where Trump or Fox News directs you and get vaccinated for the good of mankind (or womankind).
Unlike you, Vegas, I actually appreciate science. I don’t mouth off with phrases like “trust the science!”, and “scientist say!”

I actually follow, read, and study what actual scientists and medical professionals say. I dig into data because it’s what I do professionally, and personally, because i like it.

And please. I don’t watch fox, or any cable “news”. I’m not an idiot…

Sorry bro, but I don't make my decisions based on political connection or some idiot on a news network. Shit just doesn't make logical sense to me. Omicron spreads more easily than the other variants put together. That's what is said and that what I believe. It is also said that it has only caused ONE death worldwide. That's reported on anywhere you wanna look at. Reports are that it causes MINOR symptoms, not to be confused with the original strain that hurt our healthcare system.
We MUST treat this like the flu and live our lives. This is NOT a political debate brother. It is a common sense discussion. I am NOT attacking Biden here, nor am I backing anything any news says. I am using my own head.
I have a few friends living in Vegas ready to GTFO because of restrictions....IDK.... peace my man....

One of my good friends is double vaxxed and got Covid. Five days after his positive test he tested negative and felt healthy again. He tested positive on Monday and by Saturday was good. The Saturday before his positive test we hung out together and I tested negative. His wife tested negative too. I honestly don't understand how it works and who gets sick.

Neither do the scientist

So roughly 10- 15% of PCR tests are false positives. That could explain it. Only real way to know for sure is with antibody test.

what’s interesting is that there are no known reinfections of this virus. The cdc had to be sued (with additional FOIA requests) in order to admit as such. There’s a lot of bad info out there, and unfortunately much comes from trusted historically institutions

I hate that we're in the bottom four and part of the problem why the league is bad.

Spot on. Loyola Chicago and San Fran should be getting more love. Davidson should be a top 15 in a few short weeks, if not days.(Boum was a USF transfer).

I’m pretty sure Boum left SF because he didn’t want to share minutes with Bouyea and Shabazz, both better players than him. Bouyea is a similar player to Boum but is more controlled, scores just as much but shoots in the high 40s percent wise from the field. Shabazz handles the ball better than Boum and also shoots at a higher clip. They all came in about the same time.

Sounds like their games have progressed.

The project scope of the Foster Pavilion will include:

  • A 245,000-square-foot facility
  • Seating for 7,000 fans, with additional standing-room-only areas for approximately 500 spectators
  • Two separate premium club spaces at a combined 8,500 square feet
  • Two 2,000-square-foot video end boards
  • Visiting locker rooms with the flexibility to accommodate two to four teams
  • Development Center for Baylor’s championship women’s and men’s basketball teams, including:
  • Private entrance and elevator, separate practice courts, dedicated locker rooms and team lounges
  • Office facilities for each coach and administration
  • Shared sports performance-related spaces, including strength and conditioning, athletic training/treatment, hydrotherapy, nutrition and more
  • Enhancements and upfits for the arena to support additional events, such as concerts, performances and public events, including stage rigging, full catering kitchen and cooking capability, additional dressing rooms for performers and related offices.
Under the terms of the MOU, the City of Waco and Baylor are to negotiate and execute a facility use agreement providing 90 calendar days to the City for concerts, performances and other public events in a manner that do not conflict with basketball operations or University priorities.

Construction on the Foster Pavilion is expected to begin in June 2022 with an early opening of the pavilion targeted for January 2024. The Development Center’s opening is anticipated in April 2024.

Texas struggling with attendance despite winning and tickets starting at $2 is laughable. I was there last Tuesday for the Oklahoma game and it was almost empty at tip off. It filled in by halftime but you would expect much more.

I was there, when Durant and company had the Longhorns ranked #1 in the country for a while. I remember the local sports stations would talk more about who the kicker would be for the next season than Durant. Austin cares more about BPL soccer than they do about Longhorn bball.
