Here is Golding's chance to make some leeway in conference and for the team to build confidence. FAU and FIU are no better than us and have a combined road record of 1-11. Let's take care of business!
FAU is no slouch, actually one of the top teams on the east side of CUSA. I wouldn't be surprised if a split, but would love to see the sweep! Here is Golding's chance to make some leeway in conference and for the team to build confidence. FAU is rated higher than us, they can rebound and shoot, but they don't defend the 3. I think we win this one. Our perimeter D will be the differenceFAU is no slouch, actually one of the top teams on the east side of CUSA. I wouldn't be surprised if a split, but would love to see the sweep!
It'd be a good win. If we can get Kennedy back this team could actually have 17-19 wins going into the CUSA tourney and be somewhere around a 7 or 8 seed. Not great, but not bad for Golding's first year and all he's had to deal with. My guess right now though would be 16-14 and 9-9 in conference.FAU is rated higher than us, they can rebound and shoot, but they don't defend the 3. I think we win this one. The Florida Schools even in bad years for some reason always give us trouble. Home games that they're traveling a million miles though, so no excuse not to win both!Looking for a sweep of these two, would really boost this teams profile and confidence and huge momentum builder. Never under estimate what confidence can do in basketball and if we can get two this week could set us up for a nice climb back up to being relevant.
Winning both games next week will put about as close to a .667 winning percentage as we will get this year. It will also get us closer to a healthy Kennedy and a full strength Agnew as well. With Kennedy we could definitely go a little smaller and up tempo when appropriate as some have suggested. He will help our rebounding as well. It'd be a good win. You still think Stallworth is as good as CP3?When does Kennedy comeback ??
Yep. Both games at home tooI expect a sweep. I'm not impressed with either of the Florida twins. FAU'S best win is Marshall, that team has disappeared this season. FIU's has better wins but that was very early in the season. They seem to be diverting back to their old selfs.
Good job Miners. Let's just keep playing tough and getting better. I expected to see a big drop off from UNT this year, but McCasland has them playing really good again. They came back from 17 down in the second half on the road at La Tech today. Player of the week for somebody maybe??What a second half! A lot of us have been critical of Boum and Tydus this year but I have to give them credit for playing well/efficient the past couple of games. Now we need it to continue and develop consistency.
Anyone know if Bonke is hurt? He hasn't played in 3-4 games.
I feel that tonight's crowd was the loudest crowd all year which was fun. We still need to get more people in the Don.
Good win and here's to the continued growth of this team. Tough road trips coming up. Go Miners!
Gotta be Boum. 60 points in 2 games is impressive. 60 EFFICIENT points.Player of the week for somebody maybe??
More important than his scoring numbers are the assists and shooting percentage increases. He's getting better shots now and involving his teammates. I absolutely love the improvement in those numbers. Good research @axingfools1!Boum is now averaging 20pts/game in conference and up to 37% from 3. He is 2nd on the team in assists and steals and has made almost 50 free throws close to 90%. I would he's back to normal now. I think that explosion in OT a few weeks back brought back his confidence.
And we definitely need it on the road this upcoming week.Check out Boums FG% for the last 6 games:
Charlotte - 20%
ODU - 36.8%
UTSA - 37.5%
UTSA - 42.9%
FAU - 55.6%
FIU - 68.8%
Good improvement now we need consistency
Get the split beat Rice and stay competitive against N. Texas. We'll see em again at home.I expected to see a big drop off from UNT this year, but McCasland has them playing really good again. The guy that jumps out to me as a bad match up is Thomas Bell. He's a really solid player on both ends. Sibley and Hollins will have their hands full.Keep the streak going. Beat UNT. I think we match up well with them. They don’t have an overwhelming inside presence. They do shoot well from 3. Hoping the length of our guards makes that a little more difficult for their 5’11” and 6’2” marksmen. Their only big over 6’7”, Ousmane, plays somewhat sparingly at 21 minutes a game. Good for 10 points and about 5.5 boards a game. After that, they’re bigs go 6’7” 200 lbs and 6’6” 205. Also of note, they only play 7 basically. If we can up our perimeter defense, I think our overall length will give them some fits.
Obviously a bit of over zealous optimism on my part but I just think we’re going to be a tough matchup for them.🤞🏼
Yeah. I’ve only seen him a couple times. Didn’t stand out too much those games. The guy that jumps out to me as a bad match up is Thomas Bell. He's a really solid player on both ends. Sibley and Hollins will have their hands full.
On offense, he is a slasher from the wing, who can make a three; very experienced. I don't think Hollins is quick enough to defend; while Sibley is too green and lacks strength. He just seems to stand out everytime I see UNT as a guy who does a lot of overlooked things that impact the game. He was outstanding versus La Tech. Their guards are obviously really good as well. Overall, they are very good defensively. I see Bell as a catalyst for their success; the good news is that he is not a great free throw shooter.Yeah. I’ve only seen him a couple times. How do you see him giving us trouble? Damn good rebounder but only puts up 10 point a game in conference. Sounds like he’s a defensive stud?
Hopefully Hollins is on a roll that continues. Sibley is due for a good offensive game. That’s what I keep telling myself anyway.
