Good news is this game is a track meet, up and down the floor. Hopefully the winner will be slightly tired.

Just when I was hoping for overtime and more tired legs, FIU hits a half court shot at the buzzard from the inbound to win it. Wow.

It's FIU. Not particularly happy with that outcome. We should still win, but we probably would have had an easier time with UTSA.

PATHETIC showing by Birmingham . Was there at least 1000 fans at the game ?

Re: Video of desperation shot for FIU to win round 1 of CUSA tourney

That was some finish. It could go either way...FIU might be so pumped up today after a win at the buzzer, may be hard to refocus. Or the high could carry on to tomorrow. Would be nice for the Miners to put them away early and not let them think they can win early.

Re: Video of desperation shot for FIU to win round 1 of CUSA tourney

It may be close early but the legs will catch up with FIU late.

MTSU wins

That pesky Charlotte team that everyone is always worried about lost by 3.

Doubt it...

I saw the UTEP women play and some of the FIU game and most of the fans were kids bussed in to fill seats up. Looked terrible on TV, I was at both tournaments we hosted and had 3 or 4 times the fans easily...real fans, not kids.

Bring back the Amen chant!

There were probably that many fans during the day here when UTEP wasn't playing.
Yeah, nice try to disparage El Paso. I was there, easily more than 1K. Easily.

Not at all. Just stating what I saw. I was there at just about all the tournament games. It was a ghost town in the afternoon. It's like the first game of the Don Haskins Invitational- nobody goes to it.

No way there were 3-4k people at the game in the afternoon. I would say at the very most 1,500-2k if that much.

We can argue back and forth regarding actual butts in seats attendance during the CUSA tournament in El Paso. El Paso Chihuahuas will obviously say it was low while others like myself will say it was a minimum of 2.5K. There were some non UTEP games that were 6.5K. But it's opinion.

What can't be argued is the dollars. UTEP sold 4.5K all session passes. Then, attendance for the non UTEP games were usually announced around 6.5K to 7K. That means we sold 2K to non UTEP basketball session on top of the all session passes.

Nobody else in CUSA can or will do that.

You're exactly right. A lot of tickets were sold- which is why I said previously the Tournament should be held here every year.

If UTEP wasn't playing, there weren't many people there, especially in the afternoon. Unless if was the game right before UTEP played or right after UTEP played, there were nowhere near 6,500 people there.

Here's one pic just to show how filled the stands were in the afternoon.

Well then...

we've been had, Chi has proven us wrong and taken a pic of a game showing the coveted seats everybody shoots for when it's empty, the seats behind the basket. You really are something Chi and you just don't get it...you guys take over, I know when to bail.

Here are other photos to prove my point. If you have photos to show 3-4k people at afternoon games, I would love to see them.

Ronster was there. He thought it was more like 75 people there.

If photos are that big of a deal, you can go through all the cusabbs threads about the tourney in El Paso. randaddyminer and myself posted quite a few. We were arguing with other fan bases. Kind of funny you are playing the role of opposing fan base.

Just post two here and show everybody. I don't go on those boards.

I am not playing any role- just showing the proof.

Well Sodadude, it's actually RONSTR...no E...but at least you pronounced it correctly!

Thanks for the shout out! I was there for most of the games, The last time we had the tournament, I was in section T row 5 seats 1 & 2. BUT, for the most part, I think we probably didn't get over 3k for day games. Some basketball junkies like myself did go a lot. I bet fans rotated in and out to go eat, drink, etc....Honestly, the crowds would be a whole lot better if the teams in CUSA were better. I think EP fans would go to see nationally ranked teams.

IMHO, most mid major conference tournaments are ghost towns unless the host team is playing. El Paso did very well....

Also, hundreds of fans bounced back and forth between men's and women's games.
So no proof I assume? I saw the women's game after the UTEP game earlier and the crowds weren't bad. I am not sure what some of you are complaining about.

Crowd at UTEP for non UTEP games was MUCH better than what UAB has so far. No argument unless you want to protect UAB or your blind. Now was it packed at UTEP for non-UTEP games, no. Still easily 3-5x as many people

The proof is in the words of those against yours chi...of which there are more disputing what you claim. Even Ronstr disputed soda. I know what I saw, but in the end, what does it even matter, other than your burning need to be right? Hey, if its that important to you, yes there were like 10 people at all none UTEP games here.

lol That's not proof. The pictures above are proof. It was stated there are photos floating around to validate their claims. They provided nothing so far. It's not important to me at all. I just chuckle when somebody tries to dispute something and they claim they have proof and never show it. It's like somebody saying Elvis is still alive and then say well the proof is in my words. lol Don't you see how silly that sounds? That's amateurish.

Out of curiosity, I did go on those boards and didn't find anything. Not hard to post one or two here to show there were 3-4k people at the afternoon games here.
