Floyd just said in pre game Omega is eligible, but as far as he's concerned won't play even though he's available. So let's see how long he plans to prove a point! SMH...

I thought Floyd was the one who would bring utep back to relevancy. Like Miner661 said my patience is wearing thin. I'm hoping they come out in the second half and take it the cougars.

It's a critical decision but Floyd is right on this. Harris will be back. Fans need to be patient.

What do you mean Floyd is right on this one? Do you know something the rest of us don't? When does patience become acceptance?

what does it tell the other players that have worked their asses off in class and on the basketball court ? I am not saying keep him out 5 games either, but putting him back right from the get go is not good in my opinion but thats me

You don't think Omega has learned his lesson?

I think the concern here is that CTF has been known to keep hammering a nail even though it's already flush with the wood. At at point the hammering is no longer productive, and at worst, is counterproductive.

why cant utep put things together??? i am finally starting to believe utep is cursed somehow

not about omega in my opinion more about the other players being more deserving

I'm trying to understand here. So instead of rewarding the "deserving", continue to punish the one it's not about? I doubt this team feels rewarded by benching a guy who can make this team better. But that's just me.

Its pretty stupid to assume when the kid should play. CTF is the only one that knows the situation and the only person who should decide when he comes back.

so what is it? is this team lacking ? i thought we had some good scorers and now it just seems we have a lot of people that like to jack up a lot of 3's..... we should be seeing the guards penetrating a lot more.

I might agree with you if this program was at all improving and learning it's lessons over the 5-6 years Floyd has been here. Same ole, same ole...

Does Utep have such a deep bench that they could afford to play hard ass coaching? Floyd forgets that sometimes you have to think outside the box ie.. take a kid's scholarship to give it to a transfer player. Oh I forgot ...it was volunteered by a kid who worked his ass off. Coaches don't always do the right thing. They just pick and choose to their convenience.

Yeah, it sucks! We are incomplete...and we completely lack cohesion with who we do have.

I'm confused as to what Floyd is trying to do. Is he building a foundation and rebuilding through a youth movement? Is he trying to win now by starting 3 transfers?

When our front court players are finally mature and developed to compete at this level, we will have a young inexperienced backcourt.

As far as Omega, I guess an 8 game suspension wasn't enough.

Fact is this Washington St. team is not very good and we should not have got blown out. There's really something wrong and I hope we can get it fixed by conference that's all I'm saying. Floyd is starting to lose something and it's a apparent he's not as successful as we all hoped.

I'm afraid, fellas, it's time we recognize we're in desperate need of a slump buster:

Didn't see or hear the game but something evil is brewing on this team. I heard that John Bomba was back to practicing Vodoo again and was sticking pins in Paydirt Pete dolls. Seems he never really got over the snub from that gold-digger while a player here and has sticking it too us, laterally and figuratively ever since.

Outside looking in here, but if the player was suspended for academic deficiencies, why continue to punish him when he meets the requirements to return. If the kid is not ready to play, the coach should simply announce he's not playing because he's not ready. Otherwise, potentially looks petty and mean-spirited, like overkill. Why drive the nail through the board at the team's expense.

Yeah I'm sick of Floyd's over aggressive discipline. I'm also sick of getting killed by average teams every year.

Been sayin it for a while, but Floyd is the basketball version of cmp..

Our guard play is terrible. I don't care what anyone says. I've seen two games and all the hype that was built on this board about DA (the next Hardaway, HAHAHA) and one of the best back courts in the country is BS. It will be a long season.

I rely on this board for insight and to learn what to expect for the coming season(s). Every year the build up is beyond reach. I now believe that the majority of people on here truly don't know good basketball or real talent. I don't care how long you've been following the Miners, if you think this team can compete, you are completely wrong.

When prognosticators predict how good a team will be based on player ratings, but that team and those players don't meet expectations, does that mean they don't know the sport they represent....No it doesnt! Alot of variables go into it... coaching, cohesion, injuries, etc... this comment was ignorant and ridiculous that you almost sound like your blaming everyone for your expectations, cause u don't know basketball yourself! You have your own eyes and opinions, Use Em!

Sorry bro, after the first couple of games people were saying this is one of the best back courts in the country (yes, I do count on others to set my expectations since I don't get to watch them often). This was from what people saw with THEIR own eyes. I have seen them play twice (as I mentioned). If you believe these guards can compete with anyone in the country, YOU haven't seen them play. They were out played and out hustled in the games I've seen. I'm sure you're one of the "experts" who's opinion is now in the trash as far as I'm concerned.

You apparently haven't seen my posts, I'm very realistic and critical of this team. Get caught up then we'll talk!

Coog, u should read closer bro... that's all I'll say, I absolutely did no such thing. I said If Utep were to go like 27-4 and maybe 26-5they would be an at large team to clarify that, that's what they'd have to do to be an at large. Then I said that probably won't happen. That's not a prediction, that's clarifying thst, tha the CUSA could get two teams in based on that. It's obvious that won't happen. I'm really questioning some people's reading and comprehension skills on this blog! I even said in a recent post, if they lose to Wash.St there not that good and will probably go 22-9!!! That's not at large worthy!

Come on natty! I read just fine. There are only a very few reasons why you would even suggest that a record with 4 or 5 losses would garner an at-large. Anyone who was being critical, or realistic, would've left that one alone based on the several games UTEP had played at that point because it was easy to see that this team just doesn't have it. Hell, using your logic, if FAU or FIU only lose 4 or 5 games, they might even get the nod. If, if, if...

I will say that I agree with your thread title though.

I was pointing to the fact in a previous thread, that you said no way Utep could be an at large, I simply stated how they could, but that wouldn't happen. Also we are bad, but actually have a little more hope year in and year put to make NCAA than FL Atlantic at least. I also said last night was a critical game to show which direction this year may go. Not saying its over, but high hopes of a high 20 win season and running through the CUSA took a big hit.
