Football commits

That's why I said at least 40,000.

And UTEP made that game versus Oklahoma competitive despite going 3-9 that year.

You really think BYU, Oklahoma State is going to draw more than 40,000? Texas Tech didn't even draw 40,000 the last time they came here.

To those who want to go independent. Please do research. There is a reason why conferences exist and have expanded and transitioned since great grampy got back from Europe. They work.

Psssssst. Come closer.....closer.....{that's good} It's socialism in it's classic form. Yeah! Socialism! They share their revenue. Shhhhhhhhhhh! Don't piss off the righties. That bowl money? Shared. NCAA TV revenue? Shared.

Ok by me if you get a thrill thinking that college sports is socialistic, especially in it's "classic" form.

Most conferences do share (not always equal shares) tv revenue, bowl revenue, etc. But are you telling me that you think Alabama and Mississippi State are equal in the SEC? Take a look at their total revenue. Doesn't seem like Alabama is good at sharing. $164 million to $94 million. And that includes the shared portion. In C-USA ODU reports $42 million in revenue while La Tech reports only $23 million, again including the shared conference revenue. And with socialism shouldn't each coach make the same as all the other coaches? You know, same work means same pay, right? You certainly don't want any additional pay as incentive to hire a better coach than the next school, right? That being the case, why does USM pay $500k for their head coach while UTSA pays $1.1 million? Does not seem fair. Let's have more socialism to equal all that out.

One other thing, you followed me on twitter a while back and so I reciprocated and followed you, except that you have never okayed that. I decided since you do not want to be followed I would just change that status.

The only way I can see UTEP going indy in football, and I seriously doubt they would do this, is if the MWC invited UTEP for all sports except FB to give them 12 schools in mbb and then promise (in writing) to give UTEP a scheduling agreement in FB and also a written promise that UTEP would be invited for FB whenever there is an opening or an expansion.

Some of you guys are something else. I hope you all have unimportant jobs and don't interact with the public. So you would think the MWC would want to add UTEP for Olympic sports only and give them a scheduling agreement? You think that is realistically possible?

Why would the MWC add a bball school that hasn't won a NCAA tournament game in 25 years? One that can't even win in the current state of CUSA?

Why would the MWC want to schedule UTEP for football, when they already do? UNM, Nevada, and Boise all have future games. UTEP is not Notre Dame in the ACC.

UTEP athletics is probably at its most unattractive point in the last 15 years. Years of losing and non-results. Nobody wants UTEP. UTEP will only move conferences to replace teams that moved up to better situations.

To answer your last statement I’m a bit worn out. It seems a lot of negative thinking dominates the El Paso scene. Every idea to add some improvement is shut down with the same old naysayer mentality. From the arena, to the USL team, to the basketball departures, to our options of AD.

Throws us a damn life line UTEP you’re managing to discourage even the most die hard fans.

I am all for the arena and knocking down those dumpy buildings. I am all for a USL team, just not building a specific stadium for them. The league is trash and not Triple A caliber like MountainStar wants people to believe. The basketball departures are Floyd's fault as he recruited them. The AD choice is awful. Most fans don't want someone who worked under Stull because he hasn't done anything smart in the last 7 years.

The few fans UTEP has left, want tailgating, fun, and in game experiences. They don't want a bastardized version of the Chihuahuas. Stull expects fans just to go and gives the casual fans no reason to go or care. Most fans want Floyd gone and wanted Kugler gone earlier. He doesn't care about winning and when he appeared to make a sound decision, he went and hired Mike Price again. A man who failed for 7 straight seasons.

So excuse some of us for not being 100% Gung ho on everything. Maybe if people had expectations and didn't accept losing, UTEP wouldn't be in the position it's in. It's not the fans fault, it's Stulls and Natalicios.

Very reasonable comments. I agree with you. Is the AD choice final?

Im sorry. Please accept my apologies.

This thread should have been appropriately named what football commits?
Right. Perfectly understandable why UTEP has no commits right now. I did see on twitter that a linebacker in Fresno, CA posted that he was proud to get an offer from UTEP. I guess the staff is still recruiting just in case.

FWIW, Park was all over the place being in charge at the basketball game.....No Stull in sight.
