The owls have the talent and coaching to depart the sun bowl with a win tomorrow. Let’s not forget that they went into birmingham and beat the blazers 30-24 only a few weeks ago. Win Dimel in charge of the offense, no win is guaranteed.
I just saw the UAB vs RICE highlights, Rice’s passing game appears more diverse and dynamic than UTEPs….what a shame.

On fluke penalty call and then followed that up with 3 straight losses. As "good" as they were they can also be very bad.
If they have the talent to put themselves in a position to beat UAB, they have the talent to do the same to UTEP. Can’t take this game lightly at all.
I want to see a start similar to La Tech and Dimel not take his football off the gas to bury them 31-7 at halftime.
Any team could beat UTEP. We've seen them struggle vs FCS teams since Dimel started coaching. By the same token that RICE upset UAB they could also get blown out as they've shown in other games.
I'm happy with any win. I've said since LT and I'll keep saying it. The likelihood of us losing are greater than us blowing out a team. I'll take a 3 point win the same way as a 30 point win.
Dimel unleashes the wide open offense we've been wanting and Rice is totally caught off guard.

I actually enjoy the space in-between and the legroom in the stands, ample parking spaces, and no trailer trash humping behind a pickup truck. 😜

Fluffy delivers the goods much more consistently than the Miners. The score will be close, 17-14 UTEP, Dimel better win this one. The Miners are still a mediocre team, but considering how bad the conference has become, which is a big reason for all the departures, UTEP still should have finished the regular season at 8-4. Dimel had better have a hell of a season next year. At least nine wins regular season plus a bowl win. Otherwise we show him the door and find a new coach. If he does have a great season next year, then we raise his salary and extend his contract. So far, he has merely done his job but not warranted an extension. Time will tell. Go Miners.

Can we maybe hold off on bashing Hankins until we know all of the facts? So far all we know is that his mom is upset at his playing time. Players' families get them in trouble all of the time by sharing their own thoughts via traditional or social media. We have no idea what Hankins himself thinks.
Totally agree with you MM. Let’s give the kid a break and not be so quick to bash him. He may not be having a great year, but keep in mind he’s dealt with an injury and is still a freshman. Players don’t have control over what family members post and it’s unfair to give him crap over other people’s postings. Hankins has three more years of eligibility remaining and can still develop into a very good player. In interviews I’ve seen of him he seemed like a good kid with good upbringing.
Because of recruiting purposes. He had one of the best seasons in El paso when he was in high school. If he doesnt do well then maybe recruiters wont respect El Paso High schools??
Well overall they don't, but Jones has given EP players a chance to get better offers.
Hankins has already shown that he can play on this team...might still be not 100 percent? Can he redshirt again?

I think that there are two possibilities as to how this went down:
1. Hankins' mom is mad that her son isn't getting more carries and lashed out on social media. Things like this happen ALL the time.
2. Hankins is frustrated that he isn't getting more carries, and vented to his mom, never expecting her to make things public. Unless you've always had the perfect boss and perfect teachers you've probably come home and vented to a parent, sibling, boyfriend/girlfriend, and/or spouse, and would be mortified if that loved one repeated what you said at work/school or over social media.
Neither one of these possibilities mean that Hankins is a bad guy. Oh, and if his mom doesn't think that her boy deserves more carries she isn't much of a mom, and I want players to want the ball in their hands. Hankins' mom just needs to learn to not hit "Send"
