Get that arena up ASAP!

The archeological survey has to proceed first, but the area needs to be demolished ASAP.
An archeological survey is fine. I just don't see the need to stop on projects publicly voted on by the citizens. King Richard III was discovered in an English parking lot by accident in 2012.

Max: "There are ancient Native American artifacts on that land! It's historic!"

"Cool. Let's destroy the buildings so we can look for them!"

Max: "uh.... but..."

"Thanks for the heads up! Bring on the bulldozers!"

Ancient Aliens?? no it's Pancho Villa seems he took a leak behind the historical bush next to the historical Mescalero burial ground. Seems this is the only known remaining DNA from Pancho and it needs to be saved. That bush has been yellow for years and it's part of our history. Many historians will attest to it's significance. This is really big, many are comparing it to the burning bush Moses witnessed. This may finally put El Paso on the world stage. Nix the arena, people behold the yellow bush.

I have no idea how this stuff works and this suggestion might not be plausible. On days like today when there’s a court ruling why doesn’t the city have all the pieces ready to start working the second after the gavel hits the surface?

They should just sell him the buildings and move it a block away, like he offered. Let him and his buddies restore the buildings and see how it works out for them.

It is time for the city to throw in the towel and move the location before the 180 million just gets us a concrete slab and some steel beams. Grossman and his billionaire friend have some very good attorneys.

I hope the city ultimately forces them to pay all the legal fees but this is probably what they’re hoping for. To draw out this fight for so long the city will just give up and cave in.

Which brings about one very important question - where?

Nothing says pay legal fees like more lawsuits. Maybe the city can recoup their money in 2030

That is the city's job to find out where. They should have had a plan B from the beginning with a big project like this. Don't they own land near the airport??

Paying the city's legal fees will be pocket change for the billionaire. Grossman and company are just buying time so the arena's price tag keeps exceeding the proposed 180 million $$$. In a year or two , where is the city going to get the money when the price tag is now like 200 million to build the arena??? No way the voters are going to approve a tax hike to cover the difference with the way this arena crap has played out.

Don’t forget there’s a contractor shortage in El Paso so that same arena probably costs 350 million now.

Yes just move it and get it done and ban Grossman from ever stepping foot inside and put a restraining order against him if he comes within 100 feet!

Also need to get citizens involved after all 68% of us voted for this. We should not be held hostage by a few who oppose the arena or didn't care enough to vote, or voted it down. Public pressure can be a powerful tool just as a distant millionaire or a cadre of lawyers.
