Golding and Coaching Contract

Is the state of Texas going to do the same thing that the state of New Mexico is doing?
I don’t know enough about this to know that yet. However I’m not gonna support a defeatist attitude. Utep made this move fully knowing it would take more money to compete. It’s obvious that many on this board are concluding that this is the same Utep and nothing will change. I beg to differ though. Changes have already begun with Football and NIL with all sports and will continue to rise as we transition into the MWC. This has already been echoed by the President.

Cool. The same president that lets Senter keep his job? The guy that is going to be hiring his 3rd basketball coach and has nothing to show for it? Senter has 1 Bowl team in his whole tenure and you’re believing the President is going to make UTEP “competitive”.

I’ll believe it when I see it.

The president made the decision to move up knowing what’s involved so then whether it’s telling Senter what he needs to do or letting him go I believe it’ll happen!

If UTEP hadn't moved up it would have been the death of the program. Let's not make it less than it was or give more credit for accepting the mwcs desperate invite. Anyone else would've done the same in a similar situation.
Well I guess we will see if the Administration steps up with the move up!

Ummm....yeah. "Coach Golding built a winner in Abilene, but it did take 10 years. So, we're giving him a 5 year extension " - Jim Senter

If you’re right then we will continue to recruit like crap and play like crap and we will be the crappiest new basketball team in MWC. Golding is not a D1 recruiter or coach period

From the street

Late December time frame was on Golding desk for weeks didn’t get the for sure it was signed but the reason for delay in announcing is approval from the UT System. Sounds like a mess to me

From the street? What does that exactly mean?

I sure hope Senter and Wilson are not that incompetent. Even when we were winning it was obvious that we do not D 1 talent or coaching. Senter may be lazy enough to extend him, but hopefully Wilson has more intelligence.
