LMU MBB Game Thread

I couldn't get the audio for the post-game. What did Golding have to say to explain the pathetic performance?

To be honest I think they're all ashamed of this performance. LMU is just an ok team. I don't know what was the overall shooting percentage, but you shoot 30-38% from 2 land and under 20% from 3ville, then turn it over a bunch and when they turn it over you don't score in transition, it's gonna look bad and it did.

UTEP looks tired and defeated. Our NIL Sr PG Powell is sloppy. Our vaunted defense can get steals, but that's about it. We have no offensive rhythm and poor shooting. Our center has no moves in the paint. Its almost like we dont practice offense. On top of that our 2 time freshman player of the week is sitting on the bench most of the game. It's gonna be a long season again.

I've felt the same way about Powell. He looks like he has boat loads of talent but he's lazy and sloppy.

Still like the team, just didn't like this game! I never said we were going to win CUSA after beating USCB or Cal, but I did think we'd have the potential to be in the top 4 with a chance in when it comes Tourney time and we still may. With that said, this team got slobber knockered and I hope they all feel ashamed, both coaches and players. Didn't feel that bad after the Bradley loss, but this one is a come back to earth game for sure. LMU doesn't look the part of a great team, but maybe I'm judging by the fact that they have a 70s Pornstar and 90s skateboard champion on their team who was killing us! The shooting especially from 3 is awful like last year and idk how much Webb would've helped, but no one can knock down wide open 3s so defenses are going to have an easy time. (If Hardy's cold we struggle mightily) This is unless we are regularly getting out in transition or at least hitting some shots to loosen up zones. The positive is, this is early in the season and this is just the pre quiz before the test and before the finals. Watch film, practice and get better and even when shots aren't falling, don't lose that edge and swagger we've seen early in the year!

This season, the goal should be to secure a spot in the top 100 of net rankings and reach the CUSA championship game. Given the limited competition with only nine teams in the conference, aiming for the top four is insufficient. That was a nice goal to have when CUSA was 12 or 14 teams. We need to make more noise nationally.
