With LV building a new, expensive, gem of a stadium for the Raiders, the LV Bowl is likely going to jump the Sun Bowl in the pecking order for PAC 12 teams. The Sun Bowl would then be in danger of not having a PAC 12 team some years as the LV Bowl is susceptible to right now and the MWC is in danger of losing that spot to another P5 conference. I think it's finally time for UTEP and the Sun Bowl folks to look out for the best interest of not only the bowl but also UTEP and propose to CBS and the MWC that their champ gets a Sun Bowl bid vs the ACC and UTEP gets membership in the MWC. This is not so that UTEP could appear in the Sun Bowl since I'm sure that the Miner team would rather take a trip if it ever gets another bowl bid and the SB people want schools from out of town.

"Let’s start with what’s already there: the Las Vegas Bowl.

Currently, the bowl is No. 6 in the Pac-12’s pecking order, which means it selects a team from the conference after the Rose, Alamo, Holiday, Foster Farms and Sun all fill their slots and pair them with either BYU or a team from the Mountain West. The bowl, largely thanks to its location, has been widely viewed as a success, but with the new stadium, there is a strong case to be made that it deserves to be slotted higher so it features higher-caliber teams."
