Never too early 2025 football W/L prediction

I see the Miners winning 6 or more games next year and getting to a Bowl Game. This time around we need to win the Bowl Game. There’s a few things that need to happen during the offseason to allow this to happen. We have to fill some key positions on offense, defense and special teams via the transfer portal or JUCO. I believe CSW has shown an ability to recruit talent to El Paso and can certainly do that with transfers. We have to completely revamp our Wefense with a new coach, kicker and punter. The play from our QBs, RBs, Receivers and offensive play calling has to improve. I’m hoping we pick up a proven QB in the transfer portal, but that will be a challenge. We need to keep the majority of our good players on the team to maintain some level of consistency. We competed well in our league and lost some close games. I think the future at UTEP looks bright and hopefully we see better results next year.

Way to early is just that to me, way to early. CS needs a bigger O line and depth for O line. An edge rusher, revamp the secondary and UTEP got torched too often. A FBS quality qb who can get get UTEP back to at least the .500 mark. We had the great arm qb's, the quick feet qb's, the qb's with moxy and grit but one with the entire package and they are out there, plenty of them. CUSA opponents can recruit them, so can UTEP. They don't have to land a Kaidon Salter (but it would be nice) but Scotty can and should recruit a Tyler Huff (Jax State) type qb to UTEP. The Diego Pavia's are special athletes that find their way to mid major's but they are a rare breed.

Second, who is transferring and who is transferring in? My point is Mike Price got some very critical transfers in year one and two and coached them up. Dimel got juco transfers for defense and it worked out ok, offense, not so much. Will this "top recruiting class" have some players ready to start in August? I say maybe a very small handful.

After reading everyone’s wish list there are two things I’m certain of. Locklear will be the starting qb and Walden will call plays. Adjust your expectations to that.
God you couldn’t even wait 48 hours after the big win over ultimate rival NMSU to take a shot at Coach Walden and young student Skyler Locklear. Troll.

I think the Miners will go 11-1 next year with the only loss coming to Texas in 5 OTs.

I know you’re joking, but it’s not a dig. Locklear has shown glimpses of being a solid quarterback, and Walden seems like a loyal coach who likely won’t bring in a transfer QB. Walden has also demonstrated the potential for an explosive offense, and I’m confident he believes in his play calling. I’m not saying we can’t achieve 5 or 6 wins, but don’t expect those two factors to change.

We will see about Locklear. But yeah Walden will definitely be the playcaller. If UTEP can run the football next season, we will think more highly of his playcalling. Otherwise, next season will be poopy.

There's no loyalty in college sports anymore. Walden better learn this real quick. If there's a better guy out there go get him.

Since the “trolls” have turned a new leaf, and being more optimistic since being “called out”, I’ll be the “troll” on this thread.

I don’t know if 46 hours is enough time to be realistic but Utep is winning 4 games at most next year.

Everyone here has a huge honey do list for Walden and expects a doubling of our win total for real? As much as everyone wants to say that we barely lost 3 games, well we barely won 2 of em and could have easily been a 1 win team!!

I guess I’m just being realistic and tempering me expectations, but that’s being a bad miner fan. Dammit I’m doing this good niner fan thing wrong again. Kane and corona please show me!!

Without knowing the roster and the schedule, we can only guess. Rational thinking says the Miners should beat UTMartin and one of, if not both of Utah St and ULM. That’s 2 wins right there.

If this team could win 3 CUSA games, they probably should win 3 or 4 at a minimum next year. SHSU, FIU, and KSU are all getting new coaches. Missouri St and Delaware move up from FCS, so you would think the Miners should beat them too.

5 to 6 wins isn’t out of the question as we currently stand, just because of the schedule possibilities.

The only thing I’ll add about the schedule and the FCS teams is this. Missouri State finished the season ranked 21st, with three of their losses coming against the top three teams in the country and the other to an FBS opponent. UT Martin is currently ranked 20th, has nine wins, and is still alive in the playoffs. Delaware finished at 9-2, with both losses against top 20 teams. These aren’t your typical Kennesaw State or Southern Utah type FCS teams, they're going to be a bit tougher.

I keep hearing that our schedule will be easier next year, but honestly, I don’t see how it could get much easier than what we had this season. Unless we somehow end up with the absolute easiest schedule in all of college football.

I don’t watch FCS football and I have no clue about their roster makeup. I am only going off of thinking that a FBS team should be better than a FCS team. You might be right though, Missouri St and Delaware could be FBS ready and smoke the Miners.

If the Miners are losing to UTMartin, that’s all we need to know about this coaching staff. He’s cooked if that happens.

Utah St is bringing in a new coach, they’re no juggernaut anyway. UT Martin is FCS, and ULM is a historically poor program. Definitely more winnable games than playing 2 P4s like this year. Even this year’s team hung in with Colorado St, who ended up being decent.

CUSA was pretty bad this season, no reason to believe it will be so much better next year.

If we all predict 6 wins or more, UTEP always has the chance to UTEP it and win 3 again.
