Yes. I personally hate it.
I would’ve much rather have had NDSU of course. However N. Illinois would be my second choice ahead of any FCS school and NMSU. N. Illinois while obviously not mountain or pacific gives MWC the best chance at renewing a decent TV Contract. It’s now obvious this will at the very least Quadruple our current TV cut and I’m all for that! If I were to gusss right now I’d say we are looking at 3-3.5 million. That puts us ahead of Sun Belt, MAC and CUSA. We are where we belong for now. The only thing missing is winning. I strongly believe if Utep can put 5 years together of winning in Football and Basketball and good attendance the PAC will come calling and that’s probably be our ceiling. Problem is nothing has encouraged just yet we can put 5 years winning together! The UC Davis move for Basketball was kinda weird, I think Cal Santa Barbara, Pacific or Long Beach would’ve been better if that’s the direction MWC wanted to go, but whatever.

I’m over being in a conference with teams east of the Mississippi. It’s only a matter of time before NIU starts pushing for teams closer to them. Eventually, when the MW gets picked apart, it’ll pave the way for adding more teams in that direction. Before you know it, the conference will be even more scattered than C-USA.

Well Corona then let’s hope Utep gets their crap in order and realizes the fan base deserves more and will support winners and we get in the PAC one day!

I don’t mind being in a conference with central time zone teams. Texas teams are preferred, but Illinois is fine too. Better than Delaware and Florida.

So in other words you also don’t want teams east of the Mississippi?
New Orleans, Memphis, Nashville, Indianapolis, Chicago, and Milwaukee are all east of the Mississippi, I would take schools near there over teams in Florida, New York, Delaware, Virginia.

We ain’t getting Tulane, Vanderbilt or Memphis. That leaves us with Butler, NIU and MTSU. Yay back in CUSA with western travel included now.

I didn’t really mean THIS conference, meant a conference with central time zone teams is acceptable to me. NIU being a football only member is acceptable to me.

It’s only for 1 game per year. 1/2 of which, they would be coming here.

NIU still hasn't been announced. The way I see it, the longer this drags out the less likely it becomes.

Didn’t Boise State at one time accept an invitation to join the American Athletic, only to renege and remain with the Mountain West? Was there any ramifications from that? There is precedence here.
Boise St and San Diego St had agreed to join the Big East. Same with TCU. I think Boise St was able to command certain things to return too.

San Diego St also “left” the MWC recently and had to crawl back too.

Not sure how much money was swapped, it’s usually pretty “cheap”, but still a wasteful amount.

I wonder if the Big East will ever make comeback in football??

Why don't the Ivy schools move up in football?? RICE and Standford are able to do it.

The Ivy League decided a long time ago, they didn’t want to emphasize athletics. Rice and Stanford aren’t exactly shining examples of “doing it” right now.
