No more NIT “auto bids”

This really sucks. For teams in several conferences the most important thing is winning their conference tournament, as that is the only way that they are going to make the NCAA Tournament. But it's not the most impressive accomplishment. Having the best record after playing all or most of your conference foes both home and away over the course of a season is harder than getting hot and lucky one weekend, which is why you sometimes see teams with losing records making the Tournament. For those regular season champions who don't make the Tournament, the NIT is a decent consolation prize. Do you know who doesn't give a damn about the "Not Invited Tournament?" Those power conference teams on the wrong side of the bubble. And now those teams who loathe the NIT will play in it, while so many who want to play and deserve to play in it will be outside looking in.

I would love it if the NCAA powers that be would just once remove their lips from the power conferences' asses.
