OT : ALL THINGS SOCCER (-) WC and EURO CUP 😜

Good tournament by the USMNT. A year ago we wouldn’t have shut Mexico and Canada out. Hell, a year ago we probably would have lost to both of them. This team finally looks to have depth at all positions.

If only Berhalter wasn’t coming back…

Well, we might have shut them out in an ugly 1-0 affair.

But the USMNT never looked this dominant under Berhalter. I worry about bringing him back.

Same. It’s not so much that he’s bad tactically, but rather he doesn’t seem to put the most cohesive units together on the pitch. His decision making often left me scratching my head.

The Reyna-Berhalter relationship makes me a bit nervous too. In my humble opinion, Reyna as a player is FAR more valuable than GB is as a coach.

Reyna indisputably showed what a talent, and how valuable he is this Nations Cup.

Reyna and potentially Pepi. We don't GB stalling any confidence. At least the players have shown support and hopefully GB has learned a few things while sitting back.

I love that Pepi is a local EP/SE guy, and I hope he is a regular fixture on the USMNT, but Balogun is next level. We’ve needed a guy like him for a long time. Just my opinion.

Haven't seen him play (missed the semi and final), but glad to hear. I hope then Pepi can at least push Balogun to go even higher and provide the team with some punch off the bench. I'm excited to watch them throughout the Gold Cup.

For sure. Pepi is a great finisher and if we can find people that can get him the ball and let him do his thing, he’ll find his way on the field. Balogun is a really good finisher as well, plus he can create his own opportunities, where as I haven’t seen Pepi be able to do that. I’d feel good if they are our two 9s headed into the next WC. It’s so far away though, and with Berhalter at the helm, who knows what will go down.

Hmm. We are missing quite a few names there. The Gold Cup must not be that important this time around.
Yeah, two years ago same thing happened in the GC. Mostly “B” teamers played. Last time it had to do with players having commitments to their European clubs from what I remember, so there were tons of MLS guys, similar to this year.

Jesus, this is about to start and I’m faded. Maybe weekday games aren’t such a good idea.

I still don't know why the confederations cup was dropped as well

Cause Fifa wants to use that Window to make a Big Club World Cup with teams from all different leagues. The Confederations Cup was always used as a Walk Through for the Host Nation but now the New Club World Cup will take its place the year before the World Cup at a Site that will be bidded out and it will have 32 Teams
