Don’t forget 1 basketball regular season title. Not even a single conference tournament championship. What a pathetic display by UTEP, spending two decades in CUSA without a single appearance in the championship game. Meanwhile, newcomers NMSU and JSU have a real shot at it. Thankfully for UTEP, JSU isn't eligible, but this situation is undoubtedly a source of embarrassment for the athletic department, university, and city.
I don’t think NMSU is “good” either, the same way I knew UTEP was not “good” in 2021.
I don’t think they’re “good” either. Better than us for sure. But seriously both programs have been garbage for a long time. I’ve thrown the numbers out there and NMSU imo was a bigger shit show than us. What would you prefer in the first two years of a new coach. Dimel’s 2-22 or Kill’s 13-9. Not counting the bowl win or the potential to make another bowl and or CUSA championship. Even if Kill loses every game remaining 13-13 > 2-22. That’s just the first two years. No comparisons at all. I want to be as bad as NMSU is.I don’t think NMSU is “good” either, the same way I knew UTEP was not “good” in 2021.
NMSU is having a “good” season though. Probably a winning record, winning conference record, and a bowl game. That is pretty damn good for them.
Certainly the UMass game would probably have a different result if they played right now. Playing at Hawaii is always tough, no matter how bad UH is.
Just goes to show you, you don’t have to be very “good” to be successful in this shit conference. Even UTEP has 2 road wins.
Agree with everything aside from it being an embarrassment to our athletic department. Everyone else, yes.
They are clearly headed in opposite directions. UTEP began their bowl season strong with a 6-1 record but has since struggled, going 9-18. In contrast, NMSU had a slow start at 1-5 during their bowl season but has surged with a 12-4 record since then. The statistics tell the tale.NMSU isn’t good but they aren’t bad. But they seem to be treading towards a good team under Kill considering what he has accomplished the past two seasons. We are in year 6 with Dimel and we are still a bad team with both schools pretty much having very weak strength of schedules.
Damn. That’s perspective. They are clearly headed in opposite directions. UTEP began their bowl season strong with a 6-1 record but has since struggled, going 9-18. In contrast, NMSU had a slow start at 1-5 during their bowl season but has surged with a 12-4 record since then. The statistics tell the tale.
I like how the author already claims UD is good enough for CUSA based on 1 game 2 1/2 years ago. LolFar-flung but not so far-fetched, Delaware move to Conference USA actually makes sense
While Delaware is more than 11 hours away from every C-USA school except Liberty, the Blue Hens have right financial resources, competitive make-upwww.delawareonline.com
They could be good or they could end up like SHSU.I like how the author already claims UD is good enough for CUSA based on 1 game 2 1/2 years ago. Lol
“Hens good enough for C-USA
The Blue Hens would already possibly be one of the better football teams in C-USA. Unbeaten Liberty sits atop that league right now. But second-place Jacksonville State is a school Delaware beat in the FCS playoffs just 2 1/2 years ago in the spring season quarterfinals.“
