Disney is supposed to release their second quarter financials today. I don’t know if I would say definitely that any company is too big to fail right now.

Disney isn't going to fail after losing 2 months of profit.

If you say they will fail, then every sports franchise will go bankrupt without profit for 2 months.

The economy has been growing steady for 7 years and during that time instead of investing the money, or giving workers raises, or laying money to the side for a rainy day. Companies have been buying back their stock and giving investors bigger dividends. And now their broke, their employees are broke. The investors are good though.

You are spot on. It is now all about making money for the shareholder at the expense of the employees.

Anybody here invest in DraftKings? Disney did. $365 MILLION.
"New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft and Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones have retained their investments in DraftKings, sources confirmed to ESPN, even as the company has shifted some of its focus from daily fantasy to traditional sports betting.

Kraft's and Jones' stakes in DraftKings are said to be small: less than 5 percent, according to sources. In a court disclosure, 21st Century Fox was the only company listed as owning 10 percent or more of DraftKings.

A Cowboys spokesman said Jones' investment in DraftKings is through sports hospitality company Legends, not the team. Jones and the Steinbrenners, owners of the New York Yankees, have been described as "principal owners" of Legends."

Looks like their market value has doubled since dec 19'. Went public 10 days ago.

I remember when everything east of Joe battle didn't exist. When my parents bought their home in the Pellicano/Loop 375 area that was as far east as you could go. Now there's an entire city in that part of town.

UTEP needs to find a way to inexpensively move lots of fans fron east and far east El Paso to UTEP events, especially football games. Either that or build a new stadium in a location somehere at the mid point of the population.

And it's growing more.

Probably 25 years ago you could catch a shuttle from different parts of town. Leave your car at a shopping center and catch the shuttle for free. Did that a few times, one game was the ice game with below freezing temps.

The Chihuahuas tried the bus thing their first year or two, I don’t think they offer it anymore. A football game in an event, asking far eastsiders to go 6 times a year isn’t that big of a deal.

Winning, cost, and opponents matter.

or a different University can built something on the Eastside?? Texas Tech El Paso Campus ????

Seriously, the east side of El Paso is not that far from UTEP. I used to live just east of the intersection of Joe Battle and Montwood. From there I attended football and basketball games. My two oldest boys and several of their friends commuted to UTEP during the school year from that part of town. It's ridiculous to me that east siders think that the west side is on the other end of world, and vice versa. I grew up on the northeast side of town, where a half hour drive was no big deal to me or any of my friends.

Question: Does everything at EPCC transfer to UTEP? If you go to EPCC do you get a UTEP Student ID?

Asking because my son went to DACC and he received an NMSU Student ID and the classes were directly aligned. They use the same bookstore, etc. So I went to the NMSU/UTEP game and he got in Free with his Student ID even though he took his courses in Sunland Park.

Maybe he is going to NMSU and you dont know??? I've never heard of that. I know some community colleges have University that teach at the colleges. Northern Arizona has a small campus at Scottsdale Community College.

Yeah, college aged kids are hiding what school they’re “really” going to from their parents.

Happens all the time...
Some kids dont even go to school and parents think they are.
In this case, you’re suggesting the kid told his parents he’s going to DACC, but going to NMSU instead. If you’re going to lie, it’s usually the other way around. You’re you though. I can see how you would think this is plausible.

Why would NMSU give him a school ID then?? If he applied for just DACC and not NMSU why would he get a school ID?? IDK why the kid would lie? But people lie for all kinds of reasons.

Hey dad I'm going to EPCC and drives to Texas Tech medical school. I'm so clever my parents will never suspect I'm actually at a better school.

He was at DACC. And even when you go to the DACC website it has the NMSU logo.

The website is dacc.nmsu.edu

I did that for 2 semesters. the gig was up when my parents found me drinking at apple bee's when I was suppose to be in a night class. They were pissed

Now, if I had lied to them and told them I was going to UTEP, but in reality was going to nmsu, they would have probably killed me. I empathize with Kickball Jr.

Not the same thing that Foolie was implying though.

Krystal Poppinn is going to be the next big thing out of El Paso.

If you dont who she is just YouTube her.

There are plans to build a mountain coaster near Albuquerque. Granted, it would be at the ski area, which has the infrastructure to support such a project and would bring in revenue during the non-winter months.

If we could build a mountain coaster in El Paso, where would you put it? (Ideally, it should be somewhere with a good view during the ride and, I would think, the ability to develop other entertainment options in the vicinity.)

Through the Franklin Mountains?

Whatever happened to the Shadow Mountain project on the west side? Also is the Airway project that would have new retail officially cancelled? Heard the group went bankrupt.

“UTEP has established a banking academy with a partnership in the community,” said University President Heather Wilson.
