I wonder how that would work and if joining that conference brings any stability?
It’s an interesting scenario but there is so many question marks. It’s like Tom Cruise jumping ship in Jerry Maguire.
The future of the Pac2 is fascinating to me because their survival likely means the death of another conference
Well, UTEP can “bid” for the Sun Bowl, but they’ll first have to win 6 FBS games. 🤡
And since the Sun Bowl is a completely separate entity that’s not associated with UTEP, they can tie-in with whatever conferences they can.
You can bet the Sun Bowl won’t really want this new Pac 12. Without USC, UCLA, and others, they would probably want to look elsewhere for their tie-in.
If we get into the PAC we will need a major overhaul of our athletics dept and budget.

I 100% agree with both statements. Yet, college sports stopped making logical decisions a long time ago and anything is possible
what ever league we might get into must have other Texas teams to continue our recruiting efforts. If MW wants to "get" another Texas team then I would suggest getting very serious with them, however, if the PAC 8 can get another Texas team to join then "BINGO" that our new home.

Here's the thing: fans and local media have asked the Sun Bowl Selection Committee a couple of times in the past about helping UTEP get into a better conference by offering up a Sun Bowl bid to that conference. The Sunnies have always refused. I guarantee that they will do so again.
Nobody wants to watch those teams. Sun Bowl needs to do the right thing and switch PAC 12 to Mountain West.

In the grand scheme of things, Coldplay is a bigger deal nationally than Monster Trucks. The trucks are big here, but Coldplay doing a limited number of shows, is huge for El Paso.
Definitely not the Sun Bowl but Kevin Hart has added multiple shows to his El Paso stop due to demand. Dave Chappelle as well.
Previous Pac12 teams keeping their bowl tie ins this year. Not sure if this is the last year those agreements stay in place

SMU, Cal, and Stanford are in the same conference. A “major” bowl won’t schedule intra-conference matchups unless an “emergency”.
