Looks like they might weaken the MWC. Then UTEP can join with Wyoming and the leftovers.

The MWC is a much better run league with traditionally good basketball and football schools. I'd prefer to travel to the MWC locations over CUSA locations. I won't get my hopes up because... is UTEP good enough to get the invite?

They need at least two more schools. Likely UNLV and Air Force. Then they’re down to 6.
Geographically it makes sense, not that conferences care about that anymore. Maybe Cal and Stanford reconsider returning to the Pac 12? The ACC will be the next conference to implode.

Maybe, but I think if Cal and Stanford wanted to be with Boise and Fresno, they would have just remained with OSU and WSU. Not sure why they would pay big money to join the ACC and then just go back 2 years later. Could see them joining in the future if the new Pac 12 works out.

Texas-San Antonio will prob get the invite to the Pac 8, along with maybe idk San Marcos or North Texas….

Only if the PAC12 can regain P5 status. Otherwise, Cal and Stanford will stay with the ACC since it's still a P4 conference.

Cal and Stanford won’t leave. They had the opportunity to stay and rebuild last year. Besides, them leaving would pretty much ensure Florida St and Clemson to leave. The rest of them do not want those two to leave.

Can UTEP and the Sunbowl committee work something out to keep the Sunbowl game with the Pac and they have to take UTEP? Come on Bernie, stop crying and start calling!!
That sucks for the players. It’s bad enough UTEP has a de-facto invite to the NM Bowl whenever they’re bowl eligible.

Wilson, Senter, Olivas, and Escobar (LMAO, she’s useless) should all be on the phone right now trying to get this done.

If I were the MWC and those are the only 4 schools that leave, I'd be inclined to stand pat. I'm not sure what the logic is in creating more slices of the pie for what is a dwindling amount of money.

If they do decide to backfill, I'm not convinced UTEP would be ahead of the Dakota schools at this point

They are losing their 4 best teams and probably at least 2 more. They don’t get to keep their current rate of money.

I'm afraid it is too late for UTEP Athletics to do anything. It is just in survival mode. They jumped the shark of relevance/existence when Stull left. The current administration doesn't seem to acknowledge or know how to revive any importance towards Athletics. Sad....

Even Texas State (not to mention UTSA) has a better Athletic program and they were Division 1-aa not too long ago.
