I was at the game Friday. Bottom line is Sark blew it with his goal line play calling.
Yes, I have said that all year. He makes Ewers throw tough passes when it is first and goal, instead of just jamming the ball in. He did it against Georgia and Arizona State.
You have first and goal from the 2, just slam the ball in, you have 4 chances. Instead on 2nd down they pitch the ball and run wide, which was a disaster.
His play calling from inside the 10 when they have first and goal is atrocious. Another choice was to bring Manning in. Instead he forces Ewers to make tough passes. I have just never understood it.
The guy is a great coach, but you can’t slap your gf around in that position.

Unlucky for them, he made the Elite 8 when he was interim coach. Had to give the black guy the job at that point.
If he doesn’t make the tourney this year and he’s fired, I think he gets $9M plus what he’s already been paid. I think he’ll retire.
It’s a little more nuanced than that. The E8 run was pretty awesome when viewed in the context of UT MBB history, although I think he blew the Miami game.
Also, he had two huge recruits lined up when he was given the job: five-star signees Ron Holland and AJ Johnson. He lost both after.
His contract kind of anticipates his failure by Texas standards. He’ll walk away set for life, and UT will go coach hunting. I like Otzelberger.
He has some really good pieces, however, just like at UTEP, he can’t put the puzzle together. They don’t gel well as a team.
It’s not important, but it’s comical to me how he acts like he’s guarding someone on the side court. Dude, you’re the head basketball coach at UT, not a college guard.
