Its a good question. I looked up the 88-89 basketball team which won 26 and I knew that 88 football won a school record 10. So it has to be that year with a 36 total.
Most wins in Basketball history is 28. Football has only won more than 8 one time.

I don’t care how many combined wins the teams had last year. The football only beat teams with losing records and lost their bowl game. They were embarrassed by the 3 good teams they played - Boise, UTSA, and UAB. They only won 7 games because they played the worst of the worst in college football.
The basketball team was swept by NMSU and couldn’t even beat Bradley. They also had an embarrassing loss to Marshall, lost in the 2nd game of the CUSA tournament, and lost in a chump tournament at home. Yeah, they won “20 games”, but that means nothing today.

No, in 2006 they combined for 29 wins. 2006 is the 2005 football season and the 2005-2006 basketball season.
