Thanks Coach Kugler

So will all of the people who said they were "done " as long as Sean Kugler was coach now be buying tickets from here on out?

Thanks Coach Kugs for keeping your word and leaving on your own if you couldn't turn this program around. You are a Miner and will always be a Miner! Best wishes to you and your family.

It would have meant more if he left after 3 years "LIKE HE SAID"....it is what it is....we move forward....picks up!

This is a tough one because we all wanted him to succeed and the fact that he was one of our guys. I can certainly understand how much pressure he put on himself. Best to you and your family Kugs!!

Thanks Kug!!! We will miss you!!! I wish you the best of luck and I hope you will keep UTEP close to your heart. I always wanted you to succeed as a coach but sometimes things are not meant to be and your future is bright.

He technically did keep his word. He had a winning season in his second year and then left after 2 1/2 consecutive losing seasons. Furthermore, as he promised, he didn’t drag it out until the end of his contract as he could have. The way that he left was not the worst financial scenario for the university and even though everybody knew that his time was up, I will appreciate him for doing that.

Oh, all right. Why do you have to bring facts into this discussion?

Actually, on second thought, did he keep his word? Is one winning season, with a bowl loss, worthy of being considered a turnaround? Maybe, maybe not. The answer is quite subjective.

Regardless of the details, at the end of the day, his final move was a benefit to the University. I truly believe that he is a UTEP guy and I wish him the best. I am happy this dismissal is now done with and I hope that we make the right choice for his replacement.

After the bowl season UTEP finished 5-7 but that included losing Jones and the starting Qb. A lot of us forgave him since we were a missed fg from making it into a bowl game. Last season was supposed to be our big break out season with Jones returning and a former four star qb joining the team. Things didn't work out. That's really when the calls for his job started. Me personally I wanted to see what he would have done with the fifth year. Kind of like Nord never getting that fifth year but his team under a new coach doing one of the biggest turnarounds in college football.

Overall I think his resignation came a game late. He should have resigned after the NMSU game. Maybe he wanted one last trip to his home state.

Thanks Coach Kugler! I too wanted to see you succeed. Wish you the best in the future.

Coach walked past my house every day. He seems like a good man. Sometimes things just don't work out.

I think he made a mistake by letting go of Stocker and Higgins. The team took a nosedive after that.
