The Eyes of Texas the next sacrifice to satisfy the mobs?

SISD halts practices as a coach had Covid19 symptoms and will be undergoing a test.

Bowden stadium?

Floyd is really turning into a Saint for BLM and protests for police brutality. Like it or not, a lot of changes are happening. He will go down into the record books (for now).

I see what your saying but this is direct response from Supreme Court on down to lower courts siding with law enforcement for heavy handed enforcement and watering down community driven law enforcement. When I move into my central home it had that iconic eye neighborhood watch program telling criminals that you are being watched. Now, it's back to the old west days of you step on my property I'll shoot you, no questions asked. Gone are the days of "you can beat the rap, but you can't beat the ride" meaning you will be detained, put in the cruiser, booked, and you take it up with the judge at a later date. It's now you risk your life, especially if you are brown or black, if you do not comply.

We are all responsible. We wanted "tough on crime" dems and gop and from 1989 on that's we got and it's blew up in our face. Criminals don't pay their fines, they don't show up to court, unless unable to make bail so they are hauled to the judge. They are not going to do their community service and most would rather be in prison because they know how to survive on the inside rather than being a responsible citizen. I'm referring to the hardened folks.

Did you hear in the news of a drug/gang member, rapist or car jacker die of choke hold or a police officer shooting them? It happens, but not often. They give up knowing they can get out eventually (jump bail), do their dirty work on the inside or lay low. Those who snitch for law enforcement know their folks in blue better than their family does.

Floyd did petty crime and died over twenty dollars. Another died for untaxed cigarettes, and now a dad died because the D.A. state he was not told WHY he was being detained and it escalated and shot in the back with customers all around at a fast food place burned and now those employees are out of place to work.

Dirty Harry is great for the movies; it doesn't work in real life. Doc Holliday makes for great western romance movies and story telling. He was a hot headed jerk who only cared about himself and did shoot you for the stupidest of things and should have never been deputized and should have rotted in jail with his TB. Same goes for Wyatt Earp. The O.K. Corral was actually a senseless killing by both that got romanticized.

Should "El Paso" by Marty Robbins no longer be played?

The song is about an old guy who murders another younger guy out of jealousy before evading justice by stealing a horse and fleeing to New Mexico. He comes back only to get blasted in the chest and dies

Should we remove King David from the Bible? He had a man murdered to marry his wife.

So does this mean Florida State will also change its mascot?
No, the NCAA already tried to ban all American Indian mascots, but certain schools got endorsements from their particular tribes (Seminoles for FSU, Utes for Utah, etc.) which forced the NCAA to grant them an exception. Illinois had to drop their mascot because the Illinois Confederation no longer exists so they couldn't endorse their mascot.

Liberals like to get offended on other people's behalf, but sometimes they are shocked when those people themselves aren't similarly offended.

Good info

The joke actually isn't racist. Some people are WAY too sensitive. If this joke was made about a person of any other race, nobody would be talking about it.

This soccer season I’ve noticed a lot of the fans/alumni don’t stick around for the song after the game. Last year almost every one would sing along.

That's the winning move. I'm sure there are scores of alumni willing to play The Eyes. If the student band sees that they can be replaced by an enthusiastic alumni band willing to respect tradition, that might bring them to the table.
As part of the Austin FC support group I’m in there is many Texas alumni band members in our band and none of them would do that.

I’m sure Texas could find some 50-60’s year olds to come play the song, but is that really a long term solution?

Texas needs to recruit a different kind of band student than the woke ones they have now.

You asked them?
We’ve played at every Texas soccer game this year. None of them have participated in the end of game song. We all pack up our instruments and make plans to where we’re going to hang out for the night. While I haven’t asked them I know them well enough to know their answer.

Here’s a recent article the newspaper wrote on us.
