UTEP Basketball Recruiting

I think there is premature reporting on Kap's story and on here as well, but not by everyone. As stated in previous threads Bonke may be gone as well as Clardy and Giffa. I think Kalu will be back. He was a true raw freshman that has major upside. Maybe he gets redshirted to bulk up even more and get more accustomed to mid major ball.

For me it’s just a guess with Kalu. Maybe, maybe not. I found it curious that he didn’t see the court last night with the size they had. I didn’t hear of an injury keeping him out. Last game of the season. Even Giffa got on the court. I don’t know.

I do think we’ll have a surprise departure or two on top of who many of us are assuming may be gone.

Golding needed players who can score and defend last night.

I think Golding would want Kalu to stay. He still has time and redshirt and that is basketball value for the future. He'll put in the work (mid range, under the basket, foot work); his recruiting bio prior to coming to UTEP said his work ethic was his strength (which could mean several things).

Coach Golding has been saying a constant sentence the past few weeks on his post game interviews: "UTEP has value". Let be honest, would Bryson have gone to Tech prior to the Beard years? Probably not. Would Jans have brought in Teddy Allen if not for their consistent WAC runs which resulted in auto bids to the NCAA? Eh, it's debatable.

He has house money to play with that he didn't have last year.

That's my drift.

Hopefully Golding is not recruiting by 'net casting'. I'm not sure if any of these guys can help us now.

So in other words all his recruits underperformed...

Where did I say that? I was just answering your question. Sibley did good , but the best recruiting Golding did was keeping most the core players. He only lost BW.
