Please don’t, I’m tired of you digging up old threads. I know you’re doing it on purpose. If you want I can go dig up one if the old food threads??
Well at least Cincy is on the list. If they want him he just might be good.Look at Train’s last 2 posts. We’re in “competition” with THOSE schools?????????? This is another level of pathetic.
On the plus side, I don't think they've been arrested. 😀Look at Train’s last 2 posts. We’re in “competition” with THOSE schools?????????? This is another level of pathetic.

Hope we get them both. Golding seems to be having better luck with signing JC players. As much as he has embraced it, the portal has been BAD to him so far...So pretty big recruiting weekend for Golding with Malik Zachery and hopefully, Deuce Turner (both from South Plains JC) on their on campus visit in EP starting today.
Haven’t looked, but the carne asada and gorditas are very good.Do they serve breaded fish tacos? Rubios fish tacos in San Diego were so delicious.
Actually I think Dick Vitale said it best. If a coach leaves then all players and committments allowed to transfer and play immediately. Anything more than that is chaos. Players can transfer and sit a year. The current situation is awful for college sports.Life was a lot better when we could force people to do what we wanted them to.
I agree. And it has zero to do with life being better when we could force people to do what we wanted them to do, however much I laughed my ass off when that comment was posted.Actually I think Dick Vitale said it best. Forget all of that… what is that teaching the players? No I don’t need to get better if I am not starting here I just need to transfer somewhere else to get playing time —
And to think, that’s at a school where there is more continuity than 90% of schools in the country.Interesting you mentioned what the player is being taught. Was listening to an interview this morning with a guy who had insight on the Jay Wright retirement, and he said Wright thinks you can't teach these players anything because they aren't around long enough for coaching to make an impact on lives. And that frustrated him.
Minertalk had Jamal Sumlin and his coach on today. Found out some interesting things about Sumlin today and can’t help but root for the kid. As we know, Sumlin wasn’t highly recruited but he caught Boykins eye when he was a coach at Arkansas. Tomorrow they will have Mario McKinney.
If he's any good, it will for sureListened to it as well. I like this kid alot. He had ha chance to play in Europe in middle school for a 3on3 team representing Cleveland.
He does have a 1 year old daughter. So you have to wonder if the distance from his child may lead him to go back closer to home at some point.

He was a 4* recruit out of high school as a pg. I hope he brings that kind of talent to the position at UTEP.Loved Mario McKinney on Minertalk today. Kappy even asked him to come back in the summer to studio and have a sit down with them. If you check out the podcast, he’s the first interview.
Unless he was injured last year then I think it is highly doubtful it will happen. I will say though that NMSU coaches did do a good job of finding good D1 transition players, so there is hope.He was a 4* recruit out of high school as a pg. McKinney is actually more of a 6' combo guard. In JC, he scored 52 in one game. The best part of his offensive game is in attacking the basket, and in transition. The challenge for him is transitioning over to the D1 PG position which is way more halfcourt based (limited transition opportunities). Also, like he mentioned in the interview, he will really need to work on becoming a better perimeter shooter. Right now, defenders can just back off of him daring him to shoot, and at the same time eliminate his ability to drive to the basket.Unless he was injured last year then I think it is highly doubtful it will happen. Every major recruiting site had him as a 2 coming out of high school. The scouting report I read said he had adequate handles to be secondary ball handler.McKinney is actually more of a 6' combo guard. In JC, he scored 52 in one game. Agree. Athletically, you can definitely see the intriguing aspects to McKinney's game. I view him more as a 2, similar to an Agnew. I have to think Golding's vision is to use McKinney in a similar manner. Obviously, he still needs that true lead guard, and his recruiting targets bear that out.Every major recruiting site had him as a 2 coming out of high school. As you mentioned, the aspect of his game that needed growth was his shooting. His last summer of AAU ball he shot under 30% from 3. His JC year he shot 35% from 3. He’s never gonna shoot lights out, but hopefully he can hit on the upper end of that range while here.
His strength was that he is balls to the wall, how hard he goes to the hole and how crafty he is while doing so. With this in mind, he may be a good fit for Golding’s style as long as shot selection is kept in check.
He was a top 150 player nationally for a reason, with offers out of Iowa, Iowa St, Florida, VaTech, Xavier, Ok St, and other P5 programs.
He averaged 17.5 ppg, 4 assist and almost 5 rebounds but I think we should pass on him. His 1k twitter followers just isn't cutting it.
At first I thought he was big, then I realized he was standing next to Boykins.
What is the player's name?

That means UTEP isn't his first choice. It's "JUST a vist".
Golding needs a closer on his staff.
