Right. Senter keeps raising ticket prices. Last year, we weren’t coming off a bowl game and “postseason bball tournament” (lol) and prices still went up. What’s he cooking up this off-season????Problem is us fans keep funding it.

Does it matter?I’m not saying that players shouldn’t be able to leave, but don’t put out all this crap saying how much you love the city, fans, school etc but that being said I’m out of here. Just come out and say screw my education, screw my commitment I’m leaving for something better.
When we quit our jobs we’re doing it for better opportunities. Are most of these players going to a better situation or are being given false or misleading advice?
Life was a lot better when we could force people to do what we wanted them to.Doesn’t matter at all, just bullshit and hypocritical.
I know I’m old and have the values of a different generation, I’ll just have to learn to accept this f upped society.
Damn you 13th Amendment!!Life was a lot better when we could force people to do what we wanted them to.
Yes. It all about the money, and it has been that way as a result of the enormous increases in tv revenue going back to the eighties and nineties. The NCAA had no intention of changing their model until the Supreme Court decided in favor of the athletes. The real hypocrisy is not that some of these athletes will now be getting a share of the revenue, but they will likely still "earn" their degrees despite multiple transfers. The "amateur" system is a complete scam, and has been for many, many years in its various forms. This applies from the NCAA administration all the way down.Yep. It's all about money and me me me. A very large percentage could care less about an education. This goes for players, coaches, NCAA and us fans. Problem is us fans keep funding it.
12 points and 5 rebounds does not equal a real all americanDavid Patrick was one of the finalists not chosen over Golding. Got a JUCO AllAmerican to go to Sac St. They play in a 1,000 seat gym built in 1955 and have never been to the NCAAs or NIT.
That’s what Goodman wrote. Good enough for OU and Arkansas.12 points and 5 rebounds does not equal a real all american
Had to have been a hundred guys with better stats that did not make all american
a recruiting mistake for OU as he played 67 minute all yearThat’s what Goodman wrote. Good enough for OU and Arkansas.
If he had committed here though “ZOMG P5 transfer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”a recruiting mistake for OU as he played 67 minute all year
Right, you're in.I'm good at shooting 3s. My defense is bad.
Just stay on the offensive end of the court.I'm good at shooting 3s. My defense is bad.
I'm actually pretty good on defense, I just choose not to play. Golding would bench me right away. I always let my guy beat me and depend on the big to cover me. LolJust stay on the offensive end of the court.
Lol, "values". Ur a dinosaur... no difference in kids looking for a better deal, just like coaches do with other jobs and recruits. But no complaints when a coach sends a guy packing for a more talented (on paper) dude.Doesn’t matter at all, just bullshit and hypocritical.
I know I’m old and have the values of a different generation, I’ll just have to learn to accept this f upped society.
I've been saying this all along. Some want to go back to the era where grown a$s adults have zero loyalty but expect teenagers to be loyal.Lol, "values". Ur a dinosaur... no difference in kids looking for a better deal, just like coaches do with other jobs and recruits. But no complaints when a coach sends a guy packing for a more talented (on paper) dude.
The portal has definitely changed the game, and so far it sucks for UTEP. But let's save the outrage about loyalty or a college education... as if that's why you actually care.
Not the same. In the job market, you don’t have to sit out a year after your second transfer. Not really. COVID has a lot to blame too. The players only get a 1 time “free” transfer. Once 2025 hits, we should be free of COVID years. The portal will slow down a bit.
Do you really care about their career after sports? Are you going to be happy with Sibley if he averages 3ppg and 3rebs in significant minutes they rest of his career? If he becomes a lawyer, you’re not going to complain about his output while on the court??
It’s ridiculous some of you hold these kids to a commitment, when many of us don’t do the same. If you don’t like your current job, you’re not putting out a portal release and are applying/interviewing behind your current employers back. Hoping to get a new job. Why should they be held to a higher standard????
I'm not tryng to be a jerk about this, but honesty, this is sour grapes. I have left several jobs in my lifetime. Two of the jobs I left because I wanted to move to a different city. Two were to keep from being forced to move to a new town. One was for better job stability. One was for a promotion. Each time I made sure to leave on good terms, and to thank the people I worked for and with. For most of my jobs I did enjoy the job and the people, so I wasn't putting on a facade, and I didn't want to burn bridges at any of the jobs I left - who knows what the future holds.I’m not saying that players shouldn’t be able to leave, but don’t put out all this crap saying how much you love the city, fans, school etc but that being said I’m out of here. You came back to El Paso for the Mexican food. Be honest?I'm not tryng to be a jerk about this, but honesty, this is sour grapes. I have left several jobs in my lifetime. Athletes who decide to enter the portal are doing the right thing by thanking their coaches, teammates, fans, and city. I'm sure many did enjoy their time at that school, they're just looking for a better opportunity. And they would be foolish to burn bridges - as we've seen with the football team, sometimes guys decide to return. You're just bitter because KK is leaving, and we were going to build the team around him next year. But he does have the right to transfer, and handled it like most people, old school or new, would handle it in his situation.
Actually we moved back for family. And while the Mexican food was a nice bonus, I did miss the Southern California style taco stands, as well as the variety of ethnic foods available. Now that I'm in San Antonio I think that I miss El Paso style Mexican food more than I did when I was in San Diego. I especially miss the enchiladas and tamales. The San Antonio versions don't compare. You came back to El Paso for the Mexican food. Be honest?
Principle is the same. Not the same. In the job market, you don’t have to sit out a year after your second transfer.
Have you been to La Fogata? Closest to EP enchiladas I’ve found in SA. Tamales have to come from someone’s Tia or someone like that to be good/authentic.Actually we moved back for family. Uh, no. These guys have short, limited college careers.Principle is the same.
I've been there, and they are pretty good. But what I would do for some shredded brisket flautas. I don't think they exist out here. Can't stand the chicken ones. 😒Have you been to La Fogata? Yeah, agree. One might as well buy a box of flautas from HEB.I've been there, and they are pretty good. But what I would do for some shredded brisket flautas.
No. But fortunately for you, I’m done. Can you guys talk about food in another thread?? This is the recruiting thread.
If you want I can go dig up one if the old food threads??No. But fortunately for you, I’m done.
It's 95% of our recruiting pitch apparently. Can you guys talk about food in another thread?? This is the recruiting thread.
4th school? Name some of those players.I don’t blame KK or anyone else for leaving.
That’s the way the system is set up right now, especially if you have your degree. I do have a problem with those who are on their 3rd or 4th school.
At one time these players were student athletes, now they are athletic students.
I think that scholarship should be guaranteed for 4 yrs unless there are major discipline problems or your not going to class.
I think every coaches contract should have a major buy out.
When Mario McKinney plays for UTEP that will be his 4th school in 4 years…4th school? Name some of those players.
Please do.If you want I can go dig up one if the old food threads??
