UTEP-UTSA Football Game Moved to ESPN2, 8:15 p.m. Kickoff on Nov. 6

Yeah they added a bar and some other fancy stuff but none of that helps us in recruiting athletes. Nice touch for the rich El Pasoans though.
They spiffed up the ugly old tunnels with modern graphics that look nice. They’ve also replaced all the scoreboards and added new video boards. They’ve also completely redone the old press box.

You must mean Hawaii's hand gesture, the shaka sign.
I thought this was the shaka.

On UTEP's link below, it says it's "BELIEVED to have originated in the early 1980's at a cheerleading camp attended by UTEP students". It's definitely murky and vague, and there's no definitive timestamp.

If you click on our link below, and scroll to the very bottom, there's a story about how a group of pledge brothers came up with the sign at Wurstfest in New Braunfels in 1979 and took it back to campus. It didn't catch on right away because UTSA didn't even have any sports teams until 1981, but you can definitely see in the picture of the cheerleaders from 1982 (second year we had athletics) that it was already being used then.

So that one isn't quite as crystal clear as the colors, but you have to admit we have more evidence to support our claim, with the story from 1979 later shared in our school newspaper as well as the cheerleader pic from 1982. It's certainly more than just saying it's believed to have started in the 1980's.
History major?

No all they did was replace bleachers with some want to be fancy pavilions.

These are the time of athletic facilities upgrades I'm talking about.....

Buildings student athletes will use and not some fancy seats that have gone mainly unused all season.
