Why not? There appears to be 3 decent teams in the West Division. If UTEP beats UTSA, but they lose to FAU and UAB, they would need UTSA to lose 1 other game to have a chance on winning the division. That’s without accounting for what UAB is doing.
I agree. I want to beat a ranked team and send UTSA back home without their ranking.
And if the Miners were to lose two games and that’s their only loss, they still win the division. How much is that win really worth then?
It's worth more for those that want to beat teams with a winning record before they give UTEP credit.
If LA Tech finishes with a losing record our win over them is meaningless.
UTEP needs as much help as it can possibly get. Unless trying to win the division and make their first championship game in 16 years is for other programs. We’re just happy to be here!!
Well if they don’t beat UTSA and they lose to UAB, there’s their 6 losses. Would have to win everything else.
So a team y'all don't want to support cuz they haven’t beaten anyone with a winning record and they're not blowing out teams 40-3 is now being looked at as conference champions. Ok great logic.

JC, I’ve been supporting the Miners through thick and thin. I hope you’re not confusing me with the non believers. The reason I said LaTech will beat Utsa was because Latech is talented, has played a tough schedule and will win their share of remaining games. I feel after that loss to the Miners they will come out with vengeance. I think utsa will be overlooking Latech and will find themselves in a dog fight. If utsa wins in Ruston, I hope the Miners can hand them their first loss in the SB.
LT has a good chance to beat them. They've played all their ranked opponents tough. I'm just selfish and want a crack at a top 25 team. I think a ranked UTSA would draw a good crowd regardless of what happens in Florida. I was on record saying I didn't think we could beat UTSA. A packed Sun Bowl could make an impact.
I know you're not an unbeliever. I'm not asking every fan to jump on the Dimel hype train. At the very minimum give him credit for what he has done this season with having to add the "but" part. We've spent 4 years shitting on him and saying he wouldn't do what he has done so far.

That’s not what I am saying though. I would rather win the division than have a win over them and not win the division. If you want to a win a division, you sometimes need help from other teams. That’s all I am saying.
If UTEP finds a way to lose to FIU, we're in real trouble.
I hear you man. I would love nothing more than to beat a ranked utsa team in a packed SB and knock them off their high horse. I’ve been a Miner fan and season ticket holder for many years. I’ve witnessed the Miners beat some ranked teams and seen the SB Rocking…nothing beats that! While I have been critical of Dimel’s conservative play calling, I do give him credit for turning things around this year. His strategy is working and the results are there. We’re winning and I appreciate what he’s done so far. I’ve said last year we had a chance to win 5-6 games and felt some teams used Covid as an excuse for not playing us in the SB. I never followed K State football, but understand Dimel is using the same model, and it’s working. It may take time for the average UTEP fan to see, but at the end of the day if the wins continue they will jump on the bandwagon. Let’s enjoy last night’s win and get behind this team 100%.

Well, UTEP has a better chance of beating FIU than FAU. FIU is horrible and has a lame duck coach.
Didn’t say it did either. Again, if UTSA loses to LaTech, that helps UTEPs chances to winning the division.
That's true but at the moment we control our own destiny and don't need help.
You can always use help. No matter who you are and what you do. If a path to a conference championship is easier with La Tech beating UTSA let it happen!
I support this post just have no optimism whatsoever at a packed sunbowl considering we could only generate some 18k in attendance when we’re 5-1.
