All these numbers are nothing but blah blah blah. There is only one pathway for UTEP to get invited to the NCAA Tournament - win their own damn conference tournament! Anything less and the Miners are playing in the CBI again.
Yeah for us. At LT their second year HC has put them in position to possibly play for an at large. That’s exactly where Golding should have this team.
Based on last season and what I have seen this season, 252 is definitely fair if not a little too high.
The really sad part is I don't even think La Tech has a NIL collective for hoops.
Did having an NIL even improve Goldings recruiting? Maybe just a tad? Because I do like David Terrell.
The results say no, and that can become an issue to those who contribute. That is actually a positive in terms of accountability.
On Terrell, unless he develops an outside shot, his ceiling is limited in my opinion. He's a gym rat, so that is a big positive.
I seriously doubt they will come close to a CBI invite. I doubt they'll even finish over 500. They are pretty stinkin lousy.
CUSA is starting to look ugly. We’re down to #16 out of 33 leagues.

CUSA is trash. Their only win over the Top 6 leagues (ACC, Big East, 12, 10, Pac, SEC) is UTEPs win over Cal.
Last time I checked, CUSA wasn’t even winning the WAC challenge.
Very good. They got 5 teams in the top 50 and only one team over 200. We would get eaten alive in that league.

The conference is bad and so are we. Haven’t beaten anyone outside q4. Good thing is that we’ll have plenty of q4 teams during CUSA. Nine of them. We’re 5-2 so far vs q4 so I’m predicting we go 6-3 down the stretch. We have 8 games vs q1 - q3 teams. So far we’re 0-4 against those types of teams. I predict we steal one or two. Naw just one. 1-7 is my prediction. Add it all up to our 5 wins and I think we finish the regular season at 12-16 vs d1 teams.

Liberty lost to Alabama by 45 recently. Guess we will have to wait until later this year for the “2 bid league” prediction.
Also, stop posting these negative thoughts. We need to start posting all the positive things about UTEP basketball and football.

Parity or Suckity? I'm a little surprised that this league sucks as bad as it does. I expected Liberty, LT, WKU to be top 100 teams all year and UTEP, and SHSU to be top 150 at least at the start of the year. I guess who cares since it's a one bid league, but the winner is probably going to get a 15th seed
A little of both lol. But this is what we always asked for. A shitty league we could run, the way NMSU did the wac. This league is worse than the wac and I don’t see us dominating it.
I will add that this was the perfect year for UTEP/Golding to take advantage, with a bunch of returnees and the stability of a program in its third year. Throw in several new coaches at other CUSA schools, and the path to the NCAAT may never have been easier. Yet, barring a miracle run in the tournament, it will all amount to another wasted opportunity . Honestly, it kind of feels like Dimel's team from last year, but even he had the excuse of injuries. I guess we will see how it goes on the road this week.

I think it has more to do with SHSU resume. If LT or Liberty win we likely get 15.
6. There’s 4 16 seeds that play in the 2 play in games and then 2 “regular” 16 seeds.
2Step used to tell us how crappy NMSU was and how lucky they were playing in the “weak” WAC. UTEP couldn’t beat NMSU in Las Cruces with their two latest bad teams and went 0-2 versus the WAC this year.
It’s also with no upsets, which are bound to happen. Probably a 15 seed, but 16 isn’t out of the question anymore.
Yes exactly! Golding has taken a hopeful season into a disappointment and I was one of his biggest fans SMH 😏 I have definitely sold my Golding Stock!

Yes, my oversight. Still 4...6...not much of a difference. Still a long way away from that "designated" 12 spot CUSA used to frequently get.
A word on Lunardi. He doesn't actually try to guess the auto bids for one bid conferences. He wakes up in the morning, looks who ESPN has as the leader in the standings and uses them as a fill in. He put a projection out the day after the UTEP-NMSU game - which was the first and only CUSA game played at that point and therefore NMSU was the leader at that point - and he had NMSU as CUSA's rep in the First Four. I'd assume if LaTech or Liberty is the champ, they would be somewhere in the 12-13 range. Still not great, but not a 16 seed.
