Vegas has Utep as only a 3 1/2 point Favorite against NMSU to open up!! This will probably rise to 5 by game time, but jump on this if you want to what I believe to be a Sure Bet!!!!

Every Casino in Vegas has it between a 7 point and a 8 point line. UTEP has basically stayed in this range as a 7 to 8 point favorite for a month now. Here are the current lines:

The line has not changed much, even with the announcement of the NMSU injuries/QB situation. That being said, I am not sure that it would be the safest bet to lay more than 7 points in a rivalry game, that will also be our very first game with a brand new Quarterback AND 2 brand new Coordinators. Just my opinion.

Personally, I will be happy if UTEP wins, regardless if it is by 1 or 30.

Anything above 3 1/2 is kinda risky in this rivalry game to bet a lot of money. We have won 7 straight games against NMSU, so NMSU is due for a win. And I get a weird feeling that Rose is going to play in this game and NMSU is just saying he isn't to throw us off. Rose is a game changer and if he plays, there is no safe bet.

As fans we tend to bet with our heart or emotional favorites. Vegas however removes all of that from the line and they are more often right on the money. A touchdown favorite is to risky bet for this type of game and it being early in the season. I would never bet the first game on any team no matter the odds, we have no established current observable evidence on a teams performance.

Oh ok yeah I see the updated lines, sorry! I'd take a one touchdown spread however it is a rivalry game, I think the difference in size and talent is too much to ignore!
