I miss player development.

One of the joys of being a fan of a college fan is seeing players develop. Unfortunately, during the Floyd era, the only player to truly get exponentially better was Cedric Lang. Most players quit or were pushed out instead of developing. Most of the players who have stayed have been awful throughout their tenures (Flaggart, Touchet, Vint). Julian Washburn didn't grow either, he came a raw athlete who could play defense and left a raw athlete who could play defense. Frustrating.

JWash didn't grow either? Wow. You do know he was CUSA defensive POY? This is the same guy who totally shut down Wiggins from Kansas and Trey Freeman from ODU, no other player has done that the same year against these two players. Before CTF put him on defense exclusively, his points were good and at times, he's all UTEP had.

No JWash was a defensive specialist with no offensive game when he came in and left a defensive specialist with no offensive game.

Which by the way, your arguement that Washburn became more than a defensive specialist was to argue he won DPOY?

Me too i don't see Floyd making players better. I think the ones that improve just do so because of experience and age. Here's hoping we don't get embarresed tonight

Not correct his mid range jumper vastly improved. Overall though yes most haven't been here long enough to develop. Vince Hunter did the two years he was here, but needed 2 more years. Flaggert has been a bust.

I disagree we ran a lot of mid-range catch and shoot for him his last two years, but to say he was streaky is generous. He never learned to drive, post up, or shoot consistently. The fact that we had no one else to run an offense through and he took a lot shots, says more about the lack of talent around him than it says about his development.

A serious question. How did Barbee develop him if he never coached him? Tony was already the HC of Auburn when John was a freshman. John played all four years under TF.

My mistake. I seem to forget Floyd has been here since 2010.

Under Barbee he did.
Bo was recruited by Barbee, but never played for him. Explain how Barbee developed him while coaching at Auburn.

Ok, saw you admit your mistake, but goes to show...blinders come on all colors.

I singled out Washburn because he shouldve been more. He had more potential (NBA Body, Athleticism) than guys like Fili, OT, Tofi, DJ, J. Williams, Culpepper, Stone, Caracter even, but I feel they maximized their gifts. And I fault the coaching. Even Bo, who did get better, could've been way better.

I don't know why Floyd can't make the players he already has better. Maybe because he's already planning on replacing them, instead of developing them.

Yeah foster was the man. Would still work with him when he would come into town. What ever happened to his bball playing kid, gonna have to look him up.

Interesting that Bo has been quoted as being positive on his time with Floyd, so how do you interpret that?
