King of Collectibles/Netflix/Utep

Some museum might take interest in the 1966 team given the history made by the team (they made a movie about it, after all).

But it's just a banner. I don't know why anybody would plop that kind of money for a mere banner. UTEP can and will just have a new one made.
Maybe a museum, but at the end of the day, it’s a UTEP made banner, not a trophy made by the NCAA.

Do we even know if it’s a 58 year old banner and that it hasn’t been replaced several times?

Russell Westbrook wore a Texas Western Jersey, don't you remember??? Where is the original Bobby Joe Hill Jersey he wore at the game? What about the suit Don Haskins wore in the game? History Buffs and Sport fanatics would be interested in 1966 stuff. Hank Aaron and civil rights stuff people want .
How could I forget? Wow, Russell wore the jersey 1 time and he’s such a popular player too! All the young kids want to grow up and be like Russell Westbrook now.

That Westbrook exposure drove all UTEP memorabilia through the roof. He should get a cut of all UTEP future memorabilia sales.
I heard Sebastian Cole came to UTEP because Russ wore the jersey. Imagine if Russ had never worn the jersey.

It’s only value is what someone is willing to pay like all collectibles. So fili how much are you willing to spend on it?

That's not the point. Mr NCAAnowins said that nobody right now cares about 1966 stuff Like always he is wrong. A Bobby Joe Hill game worn jersey 1966 . I say it would at least go for 50k. If the game ball is still around I'd say that goes for about 80k to 100k. The Banner in the Haskins center. I say it would go for like 8k to 10k.

Okay let's pretend it's in Auction right now the Banner. Let's say we are all millionaires and big ballers. I will start the bidding.

I will start the bidding at 5k

Ur a fake millionaire and still couldn’t “splurge” for more than 5k on that item. What would people with real money spend???

Where would I even put it?

Maybe it would be cool to hang at the local YMCA basketball court. But it's too freaking big to hang at the wall at my home. If somebody gave it to me for free, I don't know what I would do with it.

Use it as a blanket, every night you will have sweet dreams on being part of that special team. 5 seconds to go, UTEP up by 24, and Fili gets in the game and turns the ball over.
Oh well, Fili, you still have your fantasies.

A 1970-71 Bruins Championship ring sold for 2,600. I’m sorry but the 66 team only matters to us El Pasoans and UTEP alum. The movie, the HOF induction were all great but they didn’t create a new generation of fans and we don’t have this energized donor base. Someone wore a jersey, whatever. The only people that would bid on UTEP memorabilia are UTEP fans and the vast majority are too cheap to attend the games so they wouldn’t attempt to shell out money for a big ticket item.

So you think UTEP would take 5k for the banner??

Absolutely nothing. He consistently struggles to stay on topic in every thread.
What the f'en hell Corona? Do I owe you money?

It is an insignificant collectable item I will admit, but I put it on here to let fans know about a UTEP item meant for UTEP fans

Am I not bashing UTEP enough for you? Because all I have been posting are tweets/X, IG or FB on UTEP athletics or my assessment on how Walden will do this year. I put some stuff on a thread you created in 2022 but I got warned by mommy to talk about UTEP only.

Just an observation: there are plenty of examples throughout the threads. I'm not the thread police, so don't take it personally.

But you just said. Please point to one?

I realize you buddied up within the past year or so with the hob gobblin crew on here who visited you at a tailgate or two and basically want a violent overthrow of the Athletic Director, or so they claim, but please do not make assumptions of my threads all because your pissed off at UTEP for hiring Golding and the poor performance by the the football program the last eleven years.

I personally held you in the highest esteem on here because you seemed to be a genuine supporter.

How about a game worn first game Chihuahuas Jersey? How much would that be worth?
Most of the questions you ask can be found yourself by doing simple searches on eBay. Like UTEP, Chihuahuas merchandise is only valuable to people with a personal connection to the city or team.

Has a transcendent baseball player ever spent significant time with the Chihuahuas?

Exactly.

The Fernando Tatis JR rehab jersey is going to get a lot more money then a year 1 Rymer Liriano.

Transcendent is a great word to describe what that value would mean to a collector

The Xander Bogaerts game used jersey auction went for $650.

Yeah, but Tatis has drug stink on him now, but still valuable to some degree. The Padres best player is who? Machado? He didn’t play here, so until a great player stops in EP and becomes great, there won’t be many fans buying up gear like that.

Tony Gwynn is probably their best player ever. Maybe if he played 90 games with the Chihuahuas, a jersey could be worth a little money. Until a player like that happens, the Chihuahuas are just another of 100 minor league teams.

What about game worn Randy Johnson Diablos Jersey?? I would say that goes for at least 10k.

When I was in school at UTSA, my sorority would play intramural sports, and Coach Shed was always there. I remember when we would go into his office, it was filled with tons of UTEP memorabilia. He had an amazing collection and I would probably bet, he has some of the “most expensive” UTEP memorabilia.
