This was the WAC Game of the Week. This game was played on February 1, 1986 in El Paso, Texas. Another intense crowd that helped the Miners get into a rhythm.
UTEP won this game 68-54 one week after stealing a game from UNM the week before (because a fan threw a paper cup in front of Wayne "Soup" Campbell while shooting free throws and received an extra shot to win the game). UTEP's record after this game was 18-3.

At the end of the telecast, the broadcasters interviewed Don Haskins and Dave Feitl. Also, there is a good shot of the Miner Maniacs in the stands at the end of the telecast. These guys would run down the aisle in their viking helmets when the opponent was shooting free throws. They were pretty effective in distracting the opponents shot from what I remember.
