Those are only projections. That’s why it’s very important to shore up your membership and get a deal done. No matter who the MWC adds, it will likely be worse than the PAC 12. If the PAC12 only gets $5M per team, the MWC won’t get that.
However, if the MWC gets out there first, they could get the better or same media money.
They won’t. They know they have to make this move. Especially if Texas St is coming, the SBC will rip from CUSA if they decide to replace them.
Turning it down would be stupid as hell. They won’t do it.
MWC needs to add GCU in basketball! Vegas away games sound dope! Us, Central Texas folks can road trip to San Marcos. And Toledo for football!? I’m not over Bruce Gradkowski cutting us up at the GMAC bowl!
Texas St will definitely increase TV audience being so close to San Antonio and Austin.
They should definitely go after GCU and St Marys. Gonzaga too, but that’s dreaming.
And yes, the MWC tournament is in Las Vegas until 2032. No more Alabama!
It’s actually about 750,000 that we make off the TV deal, but the MWC would be about six times the contract we have now, so it’s a no brainer. Not to mention travel cost decrease and traditional rivals meaning better crowds.
You don’t really believe that do you? I don’t think people in that area are just going to start watching Wyoming vs San Jose games now.
They serve a purpose of getting a central time zone team for tv lineups. An 8pm ET game can be slotted into network programming now, without effecting the local team too much. Will fans actually watch? Different story.
You think better crowds? Maybe for New Mexico games. It’s been 20 years since we played any of those teams in a conference. There’s a whole generation of Miner fans that only know CUSA.
Winning is what matters. Once the newness wears off, it won’t matter that Air Force is there instead of LaTech.

I’m glad if true that we are going to the mwc —- but I was hoping for that pac 12 invite … I fear in a couple of years the mwc will just be conf USA 2.0
