27 wouldn’t matter though. They have 2 years to get compliant. This is year 1 for the Pac, next year is year 2 for them. The MWC won’t be losing teams until 2026, so they’re not currently out of compliance.

Edit: can’t find it, but basically there are legal issues - the PAC/MW are suing each other because of the scheduling agreement they had in place this year and how now the MW wants more money for next year but both sides were discussing in bad faith.
Also an issue with the MW wanting to keep the exit fees from the departing schools and the PAC not wanting to split their current massive war chest with the lower tier schools of the MW.

If they came to a resolution, I am sure they “could” come to a merger. But you’re right, the remaining MWC teams want the money and the Pac teams don’t want some of the schools in the MWC. So a merger isn’t happening.
OK my bad, I thought the 2 year wait only applied to the school becoming full-fledged FBS, and not that the conference got an offset those years to meet the 8 full-time minimum.

It’s still relevant to the discussion though, don’t you agree? I visited another board and saw a “UTEPDallas” saying he hated the move and doesn’t think it’s a good idea. I have never said that.
I think it’s a great move, and even donated to the CaringCent campaign that I linked to yesterday. That doesn’t mean I am shitting on this because I am discussing other aspects of the move.
Others have questioned it only because they believe a P12 spot could be available, that’s fair I suppose. Doesn’t mean they’re shitting on this either.
Which is a fair thing to question. Ultimately whoever is number #8 for the MW will help determine how the media deal will shake out in a few years.

I wouldn’t think so, but it would give them a central time zone team with TSU. Networks may find that important. Deep down inside I know that DFW residents aren’t going to just start watching TSU games vs Wyoming and San Jose St now though.
I guess Tarleton St. would be better because they're closer to the DFW area, how substantial the difference in money IDK.

I absolutely don't agree with everything that all people say on here but I don't feel the need to call them out on every post. I have gotten into many disagreements with Kane and his prior aliases but he does make sense to me at times. I feel he has had good input throughout realignment. My point was that if you can't stand a poster then just block them and you will likely have a better experience on here.
With that said, I'm not trying to further derail what has been a mostly good thread. Back to the speculation on our new conference mate.

The media areaish doesn’t matter much but the amount of money that is being poured into does thanks to being part of the A&M system. The facilities are either new or being built and it has a strong possibility of becoming the next UTSA style rise up.
Most importantly it opens up the DFW recruiting area - makes more sense to drive 1.5-3 hours to see your family member/friend play than traveling from DFW to EP.
The A&M money only benefits them though. Even UTSA hasn’t replaced their old arena. Tarleton’s new arena is almost done and is about 3,000 seats bigger than UTSA’s. They desperately want in FBS and they will absolutely accept a MWC invite.
Yes, the recruiting is beneficial for the other MWC, even if it’s a 3 hour round trip. NMSU can’t offer that.
I would rather have Tarleton than Sam Houston in the MWC.

That would really tick me off. I really thought UTEP stood a good chance of getting into the Pac this time around out of necessity and timing. I know it doesn’t matter any more, but that would have been the best thing for UTEP since winning the BB national championship. The Pac must be feeling the pressure since they’ve struck out with all the schools they targeted.

We've had all the time in the world to get our house in order but never the will. Other conferences won't touch us. MWC took us as a last choice, not a first choice. We’re in the conference we wanted to be in now hopefully administration, Boosters and NIL Partners Invest and we field some winning programs mainly football and and Men’s/ Women’s Basketball. El Paso has a great fan base and supports winners and has even supported losers better than some support their winners. Go piss in someone else’s Cheerios, it’s been a happy couple of days and we don’t get those a bunch as Miner Fans!
