I guess there are other factors. UTEP Football has zero committed recruits for 2022 so far.

Thats why its important for Dimel to finish with a winning record and or bowl win and receive an extension. Recruiting is already hard for UTEP its much more difficult with a coach playing a lame duck season.

I wouldnt really worry about the number of commits. Most of our team is young and we don't have that many scholarships available. Also UAB, the current champions only have four commits and none of them are rated.

Not sure if official visits have resumed, but this is the type of game recruits need to attend. UTEP has a winning record and expected to have its largest crowd of the season. They’re also playing a recognizable opponent. Hope the Miners come out with the W.

Is there a utep "type" player dimel should focus on? I marvel at the size and quickness of some of our current players and wonder if we would have the same type of success if we hadn't had 4,5,or6 years to develop them.

UTEP only has 10 Seniors and at least 1 of them will be trying to come back. With only 9 possible scholarships to give this year, they will likely wait and be selective with who they give them to. There is also a bigger risk of losing guys to transfer, so we might be better off waiting to see what our actual needs will be before allocating some of our few scholarships.
