Club teams won't release their good players at this time of the year because of covid and other things.Question for all you connoisseurs of futbol. Even I know that this isn't the US best 11. Why would you not play your best players for a championship? Is it a logistical thing (players not wanting to play or not available)? Or is it a developmental thing? Maybe strategical (saving your best players) for WC qualifiers?
Also, was Qatar using its best team or B team?
Money over everything else! The pitch is small in vegas
If Quatar had won it would be the same.Money over everything else!
Imagine the crowd if Qatar and Canada would have won.
Yep. Two chances.Arriola!! Good lord. Have to capitalize on the minimal opportunities we’re gonna have.
Yea CONCACAF made their money regardless. The resale market for Quatar vs Canada would have had front row mid field seats at $50 and would still have a hard time attracting buyers. This final sold out in 90 minutes way back in mid June, though.

I think it’s has as much to do with Berhalter waiting 80 minutes to sub half of his field players as anything. Fresh legs.Extra time! USA looks better as the game goes on, when the first half was almost all Mexico. (Same as vs. Qatar.)
Is it conditioning? I wonder if their strategy is just to let the other team tire themselves out in the first half.
I thought Robinson was pretty darn good too (despite the goal).Matt Turner = Gold Cup MVP
Yeah. You could tell they were confident if they went to PKs. They didn't play conservative, but not too risky eitherMatt Turner = Gold Cup MVP
Yes. Without a doubt.Pulsic and Reyna not playing make any difference?
Agree. The back line played well throughout the cup. I was worried about Sands when he gave the ball away twice in 3 minutes in our 1/3 of the field. He looked gassed but he finished strong.Mexico controlled the game, but the US was just a lot more dangerous in the final third. The back line was just positioned really well. It got to the point that I wasn't getting worried when Mexico got in the final third
They gave it to Héctor Herrera.Matt Turner = Gold Cup MVP
They gave him best player in the tourney. Semantics but being that we won it, and MT was instrumental in the win…he’s our MVP is what I meant. They gave it to Héctor Herrera.
Because our touch is sloppy and heavy by comparison. Especially on a tight field where it has to be immaculate. We typically win with grit, counter attacks, set pieces. It’s hardly ever pretty, imo.Ok, another rookie question why does the USMNT hardly if ever win possession % vs Mexico?
So basically Mexico has better fundamentals than us.Because our touch is sloppy and heavy by comparison. Especially on a tight field where it has to be immaculate. We typically win with grit, counter attacks, set pieces. It’s hardly ever pretty, imo.
Oh yeah. That’s a more concise way to say it.😎So basically Mexico has better fundamentals than us.
Stone feet and super slow on forward passing decisiveness. Also way to many power kicks out of the back 3rd.Ok, another rookie question why does the USMNT hardly if ever win possession % vs Mexico?
Nah, Mexico sent a pretty good team. Chuqui was sent but got hurt, tecatito was playing, they had a lot of their major playersMexico's Olympic team would provide beat their Gold Cup team.
I doubt we ever see another international game in that stadium. Maybe a friendly, but not an international game.
