OT: Cowboys

episode 2 car GIF

It's Dan Quinn. We saw for ourselves with the Cowboys that his defenses are good until they get steamrolled.
They are overachieving. Let them keep building their team and they will be head and shoulders better than Cowboys. They are headed in the right direction, while the Cowboys are heading the other.

Can you imagine though if Jerry had actually gone out and got a RB, the difference that he would have made? Too little, too late now. The fact that Jerry was dumb enough to not get one, and see the numbers of all the Rbs that changed teams and the numbers they are putting up, tells you everything you need to know about Jerry and where the Cowboys are headed. He would rather pay 60 million a year to sign a guy that has won only 2 playoff games in his career, when he was surrounded by the best talent.

How stupid can you be to pay a guy that hasn't proved he can carry your jockstrap in the big games, and on top of that take away one of his weapons in a RB, and you have the recipe for disaster.

I keep laughing when people keep saying we should trade away for picks. They are right, but not when you have a 60 million dollar albatross on your team for 4 more years. Secondly, you have a GM that is so dumb that he thinks he can win with what he has. Jerry is not thinking rebuild, and that defeats the whole purpose of building the team through drafting. You do that with a young QB or one that is not so expensive, doing that now defeats the whole purpose. Jimmy did it when the team had a young Aikman and Smith, not an aging QB with average talent.

Dak knows a new coach will want another starting quarterback. 🤡
They are stuck with Dak. The new coach will know that coming in. 4 more years after this one, and a no trade clause. They can't just eat the 60 million a year.

You have to be crazy to take the Cowboys job as coach knowing you are stuck with this guy for the next 4 years, and you have Jerry Jones as your GM. You will ruin your legacy coaching this team.

You are right in that they have to get rid of Dak and his 60 million a year before this team can rebuild. This is why the Cowboys are doomed over the next 5 years plus 2 to 3 to rebuild. Drafting a RB does nothing because he is wasted on this aging team. Jerry has put this team in a very bad place.

Funny, but Cooper has shown to be a decent QB. Could you imagine if they had let Dak go after this year, Cooper steps in, they draft a RB, and QB which are under Rookie contracts, and used the money to rebuild the teams OL, and Defense where this team could be in 3 years? Now they have thrown away 5, and 3 to rebuild which is at least 8 bad seasons.

Jerry will keep tinkering thinking he can reload when it is impossible with all the players jumping ship, or continuing to use large chunks of the salary cap to keep them. There are many bad years ahead as Jerry's ineptness has finally caught up with him as he does not have the talent to cover up the inadequacies of his decisions over the last few years.

Unless they unload him and eat his salary, Dak can be an expensive backup. That’s what DeShaun Watson will end up being in Cleveland.

Dak is good enough to be a starter in the NFL. He's far from the worst starter in the league. But he's also not the best. The problem is that by paying him so much, that detracts from the salary available for the supporting cast.
