What does eventual mean to you? How long do you envision before this plays out?Eventually, sure.
Cal and Stanford like it because they’re in the P4 and have auto CFP access and guaranteed money from it. They’re not going anywhere soon either.

Sorry for butting in, but FSU has been chomping at the bit to get out for a while, IDK about Clemson, If the SEC or BIG 10 offered FSU "he gone" I'm sure Clemson would tag along. When does the ACC TV contract run out? That might be a clue as to a timetable. What does eventual mean to you? How long do you envision before this plays out?
Not butting in at all. Exactly. FSU and Clemson want out because they aren't keeping pace with the SEC or B1G from a money standpoint, which basically double up on what those two receive from the ACC. They will do anything they can to stay up with the big boys. It's gonna happen. I'm just curious what Kane thinks the time table is due to his comment "Sure, eventually". I'm making an assumption but that sounds like he thinks its gonna be a while...a long while.Sorry for butting in, but FSU has been chomping at the bit to get out for a while, IDK about Clemson, If the SEC or BIG 10 offered FSU "he gone" I'm sure Clemson would tag along. I’ll take the under (before) on that.Yes, the ACC GOR ends in 2036 and the CFP Contract ends in 2032. Why would the ACC let Florida St and Clemson go early? Then replace them with Memphis and South Florida or whoever? That’s insane.
Maybe there’s some action around 2032, maybe they get out before 2036. Couldn’t tell you for sure, but I would bet Memphis to the ACC isn’t imminent.
That might happen, it’s realistic. Just not sure when it will.I’ll take the under (before) on that.
Also, the ACC isn’t gonna “let” them go. They are going to find a way, whether by winning in court or coughing up a huge chunk of change, to get the hell out. They cannot afford to wait until 2036. They won’t wait.
Then Virginia and North Carolina will bolt for the B1G.
Then that will be Memphis’ opportunity to get into the ACC.
Watch it all unfold.

It's because the MWC talk was on another thread. Not quite sure why this is an ACC thread now, but whatever, back on topic..
After seeing the MWC is talking to Hawaii for all sports I think the MWC goal should be to get St. Marys for Basketball only and make a pitch at N. Dakota St. for Football and if that doesn’t work go hard after N. Illinois. That way it’s a 9 team conference for both basketball and football which makes scheduling easier and the new TV Deal will probably net about 3.5-4.5 million per school.
Oh yeah I made the other one lol See even I got mixed up hahaIt's because the MWC talk was on another thread.
Didn’t watch the video, as I believe it’s not plausible. UTEP wasn’t a MWC school until 5 of them left. The Pac 12 could have taken any of the other 6 if they really wanted to.
This is an interesting video on YouTube that concludes that the Pac-12 should pursue UTEP to be their 8th member. It gives reasons why we are the best option available at the end, given their current situation Any thoughts on this?
As for me, I would love to give MWC the finger and go the the Pac as they did to us all those years ago. The video show previous examples of teams that were committed to conferences but found a better deal and went to the better conference instead. I would love UTEP to do this. We have been loyal for too many years (ie Texas CUSA schools) and that hasn't got us anywhere. It would be nice to lookout for our own for once.
Yes, it's unlikely but it is very interesting. The video had 14k views, which Fili would appreciate.
As I said it's unlikely. I did say it was interesting. Give it a watch it's not that long.Didn’t watch the video, as I believe it’s not plausible. UTEP wasn’t a MWC school until 5 of them left. The Pac 12 could have taken any of the other 6 if they really wanted to.
UTEP hasn’t been able to compete in CUSA, probably going to have a hard time in the MWC, and the Pac 12 is a slightly higher level than that. Imagine if Bronzeing played Gonzaga twice each season.

They’re not desperate though. I believe they have Texas St waiting in the wings. They don’t want a bottom feeder school, that is why they’re in the position they’re in. They didn’t want to associate with MWC bottom feeders, they certainly aren’t going to take Sam Houston or NMSU.The PAC is likely pretty desperate right now to add an 8th football playing school. Like the guy in the video says regarding NMSU and Sam Houston, a bottom feeder 8th school is still better than a 7 school conference and is needed by NCAA rules. UTEP can just as well serve as the bottom feeder school.
Still, I doubt Dr. Wilson sticks it to the MWC and moves instead to the PAC. She's never shown herself to have the moxie to make a move like that.
We can realistically and affordably attend games in Albuquerque, Phoenix, and Vegas.
I disagree. UTEP can get 40k for Southern Utah and UNT. The opponents don’t matter too much. Winning and losing does. If 2036 comes and UTEP is still winning 5 games and under in football and finishing in the bottom half of basketball, crowds and fans won’t go to most games either. They will whither and die in the MWC too. Being in a new league wears off the second you’re terrible.UTEP Athletics was going to whither and die in CUSA 4.x.
Well put together video. Not happening though. The PAC seems like it wants to lock down a TV deal first, then they'll pursue an AAC school (Memphis).

Look at NMSU.
