This Men's Basketball Team Will Win When ...

Golding's aware. I sincerely think it would be worth a try to use hypnosis. He says they do well at practice, so it's all in their collective heads.

I kept saying bring back Billy Gillispie over and over, but there you go.....
Nah, we good. Should have hired him instead of Tim Floyd. Things probably would be way different now. But nope, people had hurt feelings and thought we could “bring back the 80s”.

I brought that up weeks ago and some thought it was ridiculous.

Anyways, this is one of the worst free throw & 3 point % shooting Miner teams in school history:

So basically this is our worst shooting team ever. Is it Golding's style of practice/play or is it his recruiting? I think it's a little of both. Shooting and actually making it need to be emphasized a bit more in both aspects 🙂

“….What is even more interesting about this season is that most of the Miners newcomers were all solid free throw shooters prior to their arrival at UTEP.”

Heysoos Creesto!! 47.5% from the stripe in conference games. It’s worse than I thought.

Our two best free shooters are a combined 13-16 (Sibley, Hamilton). We have 7 guys who have made more freebies individually (and that’s saying something) than those two combined have even shot.

What is it with guys stepping onto campus and then losing their shooter’s touch?!?

Meanwhile, watching UAB - FAU. Good game. Blazers up by 5, eight minutes into the 2nd half.

UAB - 80% from the stripe
FAU - 70% “

If only…

My outsider's guess is that practicing shooting is left up to the players and most players won't put their own time in to it.

As a fan that would be extremely disturbing if true, especially for this level of collegiate action.

Maybe it's the ugly bright orange court.

Although they stink on the road too.

I doubt that Golding addresses this dilemma to his players in the same nonchalant manner that he does when addressing the media and the general public. This uncanny terrorism any time one of our players goes to the line has already cost some games and who knows how many more if it doesn't get fixed. Usually if we're winning the game in the closing minutes the opponent will foul the worst shooter. This year they have the luxury of fouling anybody.
Golding has a real challenge.
