Transfer Portal

Duhon was highly recruited he had like 12 offers. Odom should look at Tyrin Smith and Kelly akarie . Both had good years and went to bigger schools and were buried in the depth chart. These small school players should really rethink about transferring to teams that are loaded with talent.
It's not just the playing time, but the money.

So are you saying forget the high school kids and just recruit the portal??

Crazy that it’s becoming this.

What’s stopping a school from becoming a Portal Provider?

For example, Arch Manning signing with UTEP and starting every game for 2 years until it’s his turn to start at Texas.

Get a group of 6 or 7 top Offensive Linemen as Freshman, start them every game for 2 seasons and then that Group is 6 or 7 Juniors with 24 games under their belt, they’ve come up together as a single unit, and now are the starters at Ohio State.

A Major Power 5 just telling a lower school that they will provide kids, they will pay those kids NIL money, and when they are ready, they move up in the pipeline.

I've been saying for the last year UTEP needs to negotiate this with Texas and their NIL. We will run their offense and defense. They move players up or down as they desire. They use their NIL money to pay kids to play for us until ready.

It’s been like this though. That’s why there’s a group of “realists” that do not celebrate recruiting rankings and have delusional dreams of them becoming studs in 2028.

This won’t happen in an official capacity anytime soon. It undermines any coach. Being forced to take players they don’t want or like, is a non-starter. Some alumni and fans would also have issues with being a feeder school to Michigan or Tennessee too.

I would bet most G5 coaches are content with the fact that their best players will end up transferring to a P4. There’s only a few fans that refuse to accept this notion.

The NCAA doesn’t work like that. It’s not baseball, even if the idea isn’t that wacky.

Don’t redshirt anybody. Play them all for more than 4 games in any capacity. Mix it with JUCO and transfer portal kids.
Those chasing the money, will just sit out games, you can't force them to play more than 4 games. That would also send a bad message to future recruits. Walden just needs to adapt to the current state of college football and I believe he is. Next man up, losing a player sucks... They also only won, 3 games.

Coaches are presumably playing to win. They will play the best players. Also there are just too many players per team to get everybody meaningful time. No reason to play a guy just to spite him because he might transfer.

I believe that’s where all of this is trending towards
