UTEP Basketball Recruiting

It's great that we are looking for diamonds in the rough, but Golding has never mentioned that in his plans.

Golding and staff have brought in a grand total of one upperclassmen from the transfer portal. Yeah he got a couple of 4 star young guys, so I give him that, but who's gonna want to come in to a rebuild now (especially if Kennedy walks)?
A lot of transfers seek playing time and Golding has a lot of that to offer

As I stated a few weeks ago that Golding stated in the last post game interview, "UTEP has value [now]".

He is a proven coach, good connections and pulling out a top state performer out of Cleveland under the nose of Dayton, Cincy (probably not interested) and Cleveland State in A-10 and Mid-American territory.

We need to get past this "Yeah, but I dunno, he hasn't proved himself...".

Golding has and in just one year.

For now. You can only “promise” so much time and if you’re bringing in 5 other guards, there’s actually not that much available. Especially if you’re a marginal player.

He must have had UCONN in mind from the jump.
Yea, I think so. I kind of got the vibe he wanted to play in the east coast at the best possible league and school available. After hs he took the best east coast offer available. In one of the tweets UCONN is the first school mentioned that's recruiting him.

Underwhelming stats except for the 69.9%
You'd think a guy that big could manage 8-9 rebounds on a 16-14 team

Maybe they can help him lose 20-30 pounds over the summer

Tech had a guy from there a few years ago who was decent---started his senior year

ax saw it and called it.

"................“UConn was my first and only visit, so I pretty much knew I wanted to go there the whole time,” Newton said Wednesday. “I wanted to get a feel for the guys and the coaches. When I got that, I just pretty much knew I was going there.”........."

The dead Period ends today. And the quiet period starts and is another week. But the quiet period only means that the coaches can't go out and recruit and bother recruits at their homes and games.

They can fly guys in and host visits. Quiet Period is the week when you bring kids to you instead of going to them.
