The news a few months ago that UTEP will play in a Nov tournament in Puerto Rico and now news that West Star will continue sponsoring the Sun Bowl basketball tournament thru 2020, makes me a little hopeful that the next mbb schedule will be improved over this year. With UNM coming to EP and NMSU twice plus the PR tourney and hopefully at least 1 known team in the SB tourney, how will this team fare? Not knowing exactly what the make up of the team will be, we never will know that as long as Floyd is the coach, I'm guessing that beating UNM, NMSU at home, plus a couple of wins in PR, the record should be much better next season heading into conference play. With 7 of the top 8 players returning plus the newcomers, UTEP should be considered one of the top teams in C-USA going into he season.

Should be, could be, may be...its hard to be optimistic in a Floyd off season. Some important pieces to the puzzle left to fill. And at the same time, pieces that are there, always can drop off.

Not sure how good they will be, but Washington State is supposed to be playing here next year.

Jones, Venegas, Thomas, Touchet and Barrett gained a lot of experience this year.
We are going to miss DA's motor. We should improve hopefully one or two
of the new comers can contribute right away. We will see a lot of improvement.

GO Miners...

http://espnevents.com/tire-pros-invitational/ Look who is the field, USCe who is in the Elite Eight.
Go add another game that would be considered a "body bag" game against an B1G team (get it on BTN) or SEC team (ex. TAMU on the SEC Network) since the amount of national tv games will be so few. Why not get paid and get the selection committee's attention that might make a difference come Selection Sunday March 11, 2018.

No matter who they play, preseason or in the sun carnival etc. The only way UTEP getting into the NCAA is to win the conference tournament, period. Play all at home if you can, plus a few hardening road games and save all you got for the Tournament. CUSA is a one bid league and will always be.
