Final game before pod play. We could really use a win today and some help from Marshall and FAU to increase our chances of qualifying for the CUSA tournament. If my tie breaker calculations are correct USM is locked in to the top pod. A win today doesn’t do much for them except maybe move them up to the 4 seed but that is dependent on how the other games shake up. Maybe they come out a bit flat knowing that and we come out on fire playing for our season to continue.

Best case scenario is we win, Marshall, FAU, and ODU win too. That would put us one game behind MTSU, and RICE for the 11th or 12th seed. And one game ahead of Charlotte.

Under that likely scenario the final pod would be
11. RICE (5-9)
12. MTSU (5-9)
13. UTEP (4-10)
14.Charlotte (3-11)

We would hold the initial h2h tie breaker over RICE and Charlotte and know that we had a big lead on MTSU before the refs decided to take over the game.

We would host RICE and MTSU. Travel to MTSU and Charlotte.

Do you like our chances of qualifying? Of course we need a win this afternoon.

I should add worst case scenario is we lose and MTSU, and RICE win. That would drop Marshall and MTSU to the 12 and 11th seed but we would be three games behind them. Meaning we would have to go 4-0 in pod play to qualify for the tournament.

Alright well, we still have life. We are only two games behind MTSU and RICE and we will host both of them. We need to beat RICE to have the outright 2-0 h2h tiebreaker over them. A win today wasn’t needed as long as MTSU and RICE both lost. We must go 3-1 in pod play to clinch a spot.
