This is one of the better attended games I have seen here. I'm sitting in section 102 right across the court from the UTEP bench so I have a clear view of the Miner fan base. I would say there are about 70-80 wearing orange maybe 100.
Last two possessions home crowd has gotten loud and UTEP has silenced them with an old fashioned three point play and a three by Omega.
Poor Matt just home town cooking. Only two appeared legit.
I supported Floyd, then started slamming him. He deserves credit for this turnaround.
#3 seed is a good place to finish at if we can hold on. We avoid MT until the championship game and I think we beat LT in the third meeting. A lot can still change.
Haha -- I guess I'll hold my nose and swallow a big bite of crow. But just one bite at this point...
Jones has to be the unsung hero of this game. Major quality play since Wilms was getting sneezing on the court calls.
A lot of us have to eat some crow for this season. The emergence of PT and Wilmms is something!

You can hear the Miner fans giving the refs an ear full after Touchet got bum rushed and left with a big gash on his noggin.
Never saw this coming. This is a different basketball team. Kudos to Floyd and company for doing a great job in the second half of the season. Like many here, I had given up on this group but they're proving us wrong. I hope this momentum continues to next season when we bring our new recruits.
I have to give lots of props to both Flaggert and Touchet. They also hit some huge shots when the team really needed them. Outstanding.

First win of the season where they led all game. That early jump start was huge. Paul Thomas is playing like a grown man.
Isn't this Thomas' "hometown" area? He played very inspired this road trip. 40 pts. 24 reb. 5 ass. 2 blk. 4 stls. I think he's a POTW candidate.
Looking at these standings all I can think is:

This is a piss poor excuse for a conference.
It started off with the refs calling everything against the Miners. RICE was in the bonus real quick in both halfs. UTEP looked like the stronger more physical team forcing RICE into bad shots. On the offensive end our bigs imposed their size advantage scoring at will in the paint. The Miners hit some key three balls. Paul played like he had hair on his chest despite having four fouls the better part of the second half.
Tim Floyd was very animated and coached his ass off. It didn't seem like the game was ever in doubt. These guys are gluing together into a hell of a team. Watch out come tourney time for these kids.
I'll try to think of more points on the drive home.
