WELL..........

Similar to NT this is not a rivalry. Good crowd tonight on hand with UTEP well represented. Big game in the conference with seeding implications. There is no hate and animosity between the two fan bases. The RICE fans are too nice.

Those games at Moody Colesium and Hofheinz Pavillion had a NMSU & UNM feeling to it. I didn't want UTEP to lose.

Props to you JC for putting in that kind of effort to travel that distance to support. There seems to be a synergistic effect going on here with the team and the fanbase although all the accolades go to the players ~ coach and his staff. Nothing accomplished yet let's all keep our heads down appreciate the work of this team and support. Miners have put themselves in a position where they can define themeselves now good or bad.
C'mon DA & O lead this thing with extra hard work leadership and confidence. GO MINERS

Thx for the response JC. I'm in Dallas, but have close friends that we visit in Lago Vista and some others in Round Rock. What an unbelievable turnaround we're seeing.

Looking at these standings all I can think is:
This is a piss poor excuse for a conference.
U might wanna look at Middle Tennessee's pre conf before speaking so soon. Your mostly right in what u say, but Utep has vastly improved and would beat the crappy teams they lost to early in the season by 20+ points now.

Well...........I'm 93% right because only 1 out of 14 teams is NCAA tourney material the rest are well........... why be rude. I'll just say they're not. Playing devil's advocate here: Could UTEP's improvement have anything to do with the caliber of the conference?(BTW, I'm not complaining better than losing) I'm just not ready to say everything's right with the UTEP basketball world right now.

I agreed with u in most part actually. Just saying its obvious this team is playing much better than earlier in the season against bottom feeder D1 teams. Your correct Conference USA has 1 very strong Team M. Tennessee 1 pretty good team in LA Tech, about 3 mediocre teams and then some really bad teams. Utep has turned the corner as far as this season turning around for the better, but not Floyd's overall tenure no.

I do think our sub par conf is partially responsible for our ability to turn our record around, however I also think we've improved immeasurably.

At the beginning of the season, we had no threats other than DA and omega. Now, we have willms looking like a (dare I say) NBA level prospect. Paul Thomas has been even more impressive. Kid played like a soph earlier in the year, and could usually scratch together 5pts. Now, he's playing like a MAN with a chip on his shoulder, and stringing together impressive double-doubles. The whole team has fed off this which leads to the most important improvement of all--- defense and hustle.

Let's be honest-- we couldn't guard for $hit earlier in the year (especially the 3pt line). Now, it's almost like watching a haskins team of old out there. We're holding these teams to under 30pts a half regularly. I'll take that any day of the week, regardless of the competition....

I agree they are measurably better defensively. Also, Wilms resurgence and lately Thomas' rise have had a major impact on the team.
