Winn certainly provided some necessary muscle inside. It's hard to believe he only has a few games under his belt. Once he settles down a bit and stops throwing up shots too hard, he will be a major offensive force. He is already grabbing rebounds, making his presence felt underneath, and drawing numerous fouls. As someone mentioned, he is already looking like a smaller (but quicker) Cedric Lang under the basket.

Also kudos to Vint, who had his best overall game ever.

Most of UTEP fans have not seen what Winn brings to UTEP for just a freshman. Lang was good but did not fight off block outs like Winn does. Fighting off block out is a rare art and not really taught by HS coaches. The techniques are somewhat similar to what football defensive line are taught but for basketball, but your opponent has his back side up against you instead of front to front, so technique has to actually be more refined. Winn has timing and footwork that comes naturally. Very, very rare. His motor just needs refined.

Agree, this young man is already contributing in important ways. He has a tremendous "upside" as long as he continues to work on his footwork, inside shots, tip-ins, and defense.
