WKU and MTSU games

I know we were the underdogs but I think this was another bad loss. We were sloppy, couldn't make easy layups, gave up easy layups, and turned the ball over in the end when it mattered. How many shot clock violations did we have? Some of these rotations don't make sense and are ineffective. I continue to question coaching. Let's get the split on Saturday.

Jones had 2 blocks, 3 rebounds and 10 points playing a whopping 12 minutes.

Why not play more of the forwards together and let Frazier guard down some if needed?
That’s two games in a row, the only two I can remember lately where Jones has played a significant amount of minutes, where he averages almost a point per minute. He also actually moves from spot to spot to at least attempt to rebound. He alters shots that he isn’t blocking. I don’t know what more he has to do to get 20+ minutes on the court. He deserves it as much as the guys who do get those kind of minutes.

This is nothing against Horton, but rather Golding’s decision making process. We claw back from a significant deficit and go up by 5 with momentum on our side. A time out is called. Golding makes the decision not only to sub while this lineup is killing it, but bring a guy in who has played zero minutes up to that point. WKU scores after the time out. The Miners move the ball around and get a great look at the bucket, however Horton misses a wide open 10 footer from the baseline. A guy who still hasn’t found his form this season. Why? It makes no damn sense. It wasn’t just a missed shot. It was the end of any sense of momentum the Miners had going.

Again, not ragging on Horton. Fvckn Golding makes these illogical subs on a regular basis. It is not the first time it appears to have cost the game. And…why is Hebb getting so many minutes? I love his hustle and effort but he is getting out “athleted” baddd. He constantly gets burned on defense because he isn’t explosive enough to keep up with the first step. He gets stuck with the ball under the bucket and isn’t creative enough or athletic enough to do anything with it and throws up these shots that miss wildly. Meanwhile we have another guy who can hit the 3 with the best of them and is about the most acrobatic athlete around the bucket wasting away on the pine. Why?!?

The coaching is so frustrating.

Here’s for a positive spin…. We haven’t last 2 games in a row so we’ll probably beat Middle Tennessee lol if that happens then I’m satisfied with this road trip. It’s a log jam 1-8 anyways.

I have to think if Jones continues to play like the last two games, he will continue an upward trend in terms of minutes. Last night, he got 13 minutes, while Kalu got 22, and Hamilton had 12. I thought it was a good sign that Jones backed up Frazier when he was getting a breather. In that lineup, you had Jones at the 4 paired with Hamilton/Kalu. Jones was also at the 5, when Frazier was in the lineup. Ultimately, I could see Jones grabbing some of Hamilton's minutes, but he has to continue stacking games like the previous two.

On Hebb, that is a baffling one indeed. WKU's (Lander and McHenry, in particular) gameplan was obvious: Attack Hebb off the dribble. Now, WKU was successful against other UTEP guards beside Hebb, but they really went after Hebb. You would think once Camper gets back, Hebb's minutes will drop. I also think Bynum has done himself no favors due to turnovers, poor shot selection, and some not so great defense. Thing is, you get alot of the same negatives with Hebb, but without the instant offense Bynum brings.
