El Paso businesses that have expanded to other cities??

Tipping large amounts and/or dropping money at Casinos are not donations. They are not tax deductible nor are they for a definitive good cause. Its just being nice or having fun.

Just because it's not tax deductible doesn't mean it's not a donation. What if I dropped a trash bag of $1000 at the Goodwill?? But I didnt want anyone to know and Goodwill doesn't report it ?? What would you consider that ??

What if I went into walmart and made it rain of $1 bills. What is that??

I'm not talking about Vegas Casinos or Alantic City. I'm talking about the Casinos owned by the Native people. All that money goes to them and i have no problem losing or going to the cafe and getting a fry bread.

When I was in Alaska years back, I saw an El Paso Natural Gas office. Not sure if that technically counts, but I thought it was pretty cool.
El Paso Natural Gas became El Paso Corp around 2000. About that time it became the largest pipeline company in North America. You could see El Paso signs in about 40 states. They were a big deal in the energy industry. In 2000 they left El Paso for Houston and Colorado Springs and took 1000's of good jobs. They owned 2 of the buildings downtown. Too bad they didnt stay in El Paso. They were a good Corporate citizen.

LOL First of all, that would be stupid to drop a bag of $1,000 at Goodwill. If you donate items to Goodwill it is tax deductible and they will give you a paper to claim on your taxes.

Going into Wal-Mart and throwing money around is stupid. It's still not a donation.

Donating money to goodwill is tax deductible.

Giving out $1 bills at Walmart is just being generous i guess.

Either way you can call it what you want. You went from Chicos Tacos franchising to you making it rain at Walmart:)

Good on your part

I used to donate quite a bit. Would rather give the money to an organization in need than the government. But when the tax breaks came and the Standard Deduction was doubled, it really didnt make alot of sense to donate.

I said something about Chicos tacos being greedy. I'm not interested in Franchiseing Chicos tacos. I'm just saying it was a bad move their part . Yes I understand they content. They remind of El Paso and perfect for each other. El Paso is content at being a small town. I guess that's find for the old folks but that crappy for the youngsters.

How is it a bad move if they are content with their lives?

I've brought many out of towners to chico's tacos and they werent all that on it at all lol. In fact some hated it. While other family members that moved from el paso I used to freeze the stuff and ship it out to them. Go figure . Chico's Tacos is a family ran business. I would never see a reason to franchise, and I dont see a reason for them to feel they have to save the neighborhoods they are in. I can assure you they make their tax deductible donations though lol. As far as ever sponsoring the sun bowl their best marketing is work of mouth. They dont even need commercials. Sponsoring a bowl game from speaking to someone that used to sponsor one in california is a loss, to break even scenario anyway.

Hellen of Troy

Helen of Troy is a massive company and they're still based here. Taco Tote, I know started in Juarez but began its Franchising opportunities as an El Paso Company. I was not a big fan of Taco Tote's franchise model. Used to be able to Get The Pack for 5.25, now its 10.95.

I do think Don Carbon has potential to be massive. I went to a place in Florida called El Pollo Tropical, which reminded me of Don Carbon. Carbon is a million times better.

I used to think Peter Piper was El Paso based. It seems like it has been more successful here than anywhere else.

Yes. I know people in other cities who are surprised we still have Peter Piper Pizza. The company recently filed for bankruptcy unfortunately. I believe they're Arizona based.

Yes, I believe it was Arizona based but Chuck e Cheese purchased PPP and they're not doing well financially well either.

There are going to be a lot of franchise opportunities come next year. I was actually seriously looking at a Jimmie John's with some friends before all this crap started.

Freebirds. It could do well in the EP market.

You know what would do well in El Paso that would do well and I like better than Buc-ee's?
Wawa. They are an east coast chain that has great food and drinks from all over, not just regional.

The one at 217 E. Paisano? I doubt that's true. Who told you that?

I heard it a while back long time ago?? Why cant it be true?? It would make sense with it being right by the border. I bet it gets a lot of foot traffic.
