He is made for the mid major HC position.

A)Can recruit anywhere and has good southern ties (and west coast too)
B)Builds for the long haul. Nothing wrong with that, just a management style. Worked at UTEP, may not somewhere else.
C)Your not going to find a coach who demands and works his players arse off.
D)Doesn't put up with BS.

Bad side....
A) Need to accept community outreach at this level. The HC at UTEP is always under the public eye 24/7 and can be intense at times and he didn't like it, but warmed up as success came.
B) His offensive style is not of the liking of the offensive purist who buy season tickets or the AD.
C) He is a 21st century D1 coach. Young, a bit cocky, appreciates history but "I'll chart my own path, thank you" type of coach and while they know "Old School" doesn't mean they like it. He is a today's player coach; new (transfer) rules, new expectations (faster game, fans want entertained even more), players want almost gang like loyalty from the coach, and the cherry on top......the end game is to get to the top of the heap (again for coaches like him) and mid majors only offer so much, it's a business, nothing personal.
